Do you like Parks and Rec and The Office?

Bracing myself for a no so I'll be less baffled when it comes

Ron is kinda funny but that show is definitive bland white humour alongside SNL.

YorkeDaddy 10-17-2018 12:50 PM

So you just dislike anything that Michael Schur had to do with then

Quite the hot take there my man

I don't really get what that means

He means humor for bland white people who probably subconsciously think about locking their car doors whenever they see a black person with baggy pants.

Oriphiel 10-17-2018 01:27 PM

Asian humor is criminally underrated, tbh. Stephen Chow >

Rick & Morty is great and Community is not.

Mainstream American humour that focuses more on reaching for the lowest, most predictable, extremely forced common denominator instead of being as funny as possible.

The Batlord 10-17-2018 01:31 PM

If it's got a laugh track 9/10 it's cracker humor.

The Good Place is the least predictable sitcom I’ve ever seen

If you read its wikipedia it immediately tells you its partially famous for its jawdropping season 1 plot twist and constant subverting of expectations

There’s only one character in the show that falls under the type of humor you’re describing (Jason, for anyone that’s seen it)

You're both bitches for not following my arbitrary guidelines of worthiness.

The first guideline is to write naughty koans in your spare time, btw.

Tried getting into Maniac but I was not in the mood for such a slow start. Will give it another go when I'm less tired.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 03:05 PM

What MMA have you been getting in to? Any specific fighters or promotions that you've taken a shine to?

I barely watch pro wrestling any more.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 03:18 PM

I try to just watch the pro wrestling matches. I usually skip the talking stuff, but will have it on in the background sometimes if I feel like it.

Outside of UFC, only PFL. I'm still relatively new in my interest in it.

PFL has an interesting structure, staging seasons and awarding fighters points based on their fights, and the fighters with the most points receiving a cash prize. The promotion used to be called "The World Series Of Fightng." It is owned [or at least presided over] by Ray Sefo, a former fighter, so he knows how to do things, unlike that clown Dana White in the UFC who only cares about money.

Bellator MMA
is a great promotion. They get a lot of the UFC rejects and people who get fed up with Dana White's bull$hit. You can watch the fights for free in the U.S. on the Paramount network [formerly Spike TV, formerly TNN]. They are at the end of a heavyweight tournament, with the finals being in January I believe. Fedor Emelainenko [former PRDIE heavyweight champ] vs Ryan Bader [former UFC light heavyweight].

Keep your eye on ONE FC out of Singapore. They have some good funding behind them. You can watch their fights for free on an app as well. Eddie Alvarez just signed with them. They have Brandon Vera and Ben Askren as well. They have a good business model and are [I think] the largest promotion in Asia, which is nothing to scoff at.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 06:44 PM

Let's take it easy on Dana White.

I have heard of and seen some Bellator as well, forgot about that one. Just getting really into it for the first time the only people I really know are Kimbo Slice and any wrestlers that have tried their hand at it. I'll have to check out this Singapore league though, the international events are usually really good.

Dude, The UFC is corporatism at it's worst, and Dana White spear heads that $hit like a MF'er. They screw fighters left and right.

Kimbo is dead LOL [R.I.P.]. Check out https://www.MMAJunkie.com it's my favorite MMA site.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 08:20 PM

Dude, it's his company and he can do what he wants with it.

When did I ever say he was alive? LOL

Is it his company? The Fertitas owned like 99% and recently sold that to a pool of buyers. Dana owns like 1% as far as I remember. I could be wrong. I will look it up.

[MERIT] 10-22-2018 08:36 PM

Dana White has a 9% stake in the ownership of the UFC. He is the President of the company.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 08:54 PM

He has control over it.

To a certain extent. There are boundaries and limits.

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 09:00 PM

Obviously enough to where people blame him for everything, so now we are just getting into semantics.

I'll concede to your parlance. As long as Dana White keeps those Federal Reserve Notes coming in on the regular, then it's "his company," even though he doesn't have a majority stake. We're good my man
#RESPECT

BassoonPlatoon 10-22-2018 09:13 PM

We got sidetracked.
My point being as long as Dana White has discretion in making decisions with the UFC, he can do whatever he wants.

The Batlord 11-08-2018 02:37 PM

Think I'm gonna watch Punisher again, which I'm pretty sure outclasses Daredevil, but I don't know if it's better than Jessica Jones. Best Netflix Marvel series?

windsock 11-08-2018 03:22 PM

Funny you mention that because I was just considering starting to watch Daredevil. Is it worth it?

First season just ****ing rocks.
Second season lacks a memorable villain like the first but is still fun.

Oh hell the **** yes it's fan-****ing-tastic. Jessica Jones and The Punisher are just that great that another great series can seem less great by comparison. I haven't watched Iron Fist, Luke Cage, or The Defenders, but the Netflix Marvel series I have watched absolutely **** on the MCU in many ways.

Wilson Fisk was pretty great, but with the Punisher in season 2 it didn't need a great villain. It had a great anti-hero in distress to fill the void.

But omfg that one long take fight scene in the first episode or two or three of Daredevil season 1 was one of the coolest fight scenes ever. Holy **** just wondering how long he can prop himself up to beat the ass of one more guy is so ****ing tense.

Oh right, I forgot that the Punisher was in the second season of Daredevil and it was soooo glorious.
Still, generic, boring ninjas were a bit generic and boring.

Yeah totally. Ninjas are the new cowboys for being overexposed and not nearly as cool as people like to think. Have you seen The Punisher though?

Omg, I forgot how ****ing hilarious this **** is

BassoonPlatoon 11-26-2018 10:15 PM

Been watching The Blacklist ever since I finished every episode of Jericho. I’m amazed that something I found through Netflix has not only not been cancelled yet, but has in fact been renewed. The only other time this has happened was with Supernatural and I wouldn’t exactly say that I “discovered” that through Netflix.

Key 11-27-2018 11:08 AM

I watched the entirety of Sabrina on Netflix. Quite good. Very dark.
