Why, wait a few weeks and it'll happen in the others! Weddings? Don't talk to me about weddings! And as for long-lost children/relatives/friends/parents..... soaps: ya can keep them!

Anyway, wouldn't you watch just to see Madeline Stowe and her English friend? Can't remember her name... Nicky? No. Tara? Nah that's "True Blood". Jessica? Ah you know her, the organiser...
Come on. Revenge is just a soap opera with better acting (kinda), better writing (for the most part), better dialogue (sort of), better production values (alright that's definitely true), and made for primetime rather than daytime television. For god's sake, it's even got the evil twin (the crazy stripper chick may not actually be related, but she's definitely an evil twin). Which is why I love it. Revenge is just so ludicrous and over the top that it makes me wet myself with joy.

You know, you make some good points. Never really saw it that way though. I mean, in some ways then most drama could be seen as being soap opera-like. Then again, as I mentioned, have you ever SEEN British (or, lord save us from all harm, Irish) soaps?? Makes me shiver just to think of it.

/agreed Most definitely! Then there's the even shorter lived "Hippies" Simon Pegg did for one season. Then there's "Black Books" with Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey.

Recently burned through all of Bob's Burgers (actually very good) and Wilfred (also very good) on Netflix.

Now I'm getting into Doctor Who. Haven't made it to David Tennant yet (people keep saying Doctor 10 is the best) but I'm really digging Doctor 9.

Also: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is a fear-inducing two-parter. Eek.

Ah man! Forgot about BB! Did you see the one where Bernard gets locked out of the shop, and has to get a temporary job (like, till the rain stops) in a chip shop? "Chips please" "How many?" "What?" "How many chips do you want?" "Uh, I don't know... twenty?" "There you go. Has the rain stopped?" "What?" "Has the rain stopped?" "Uh, yeah.." "Great! I'm off! I quit!"

Can't find that one, but here's a great one where Manny "finds out he can play piano!" His face is just priceless: this guy is a comedy god!

I imagine they're much the same as American soap operas. I think the trick is to pick one and stick with it. I actually was sorta getting into Days of Our Lives a little while ago. The biggest problem is getting through that first episode. You have no idea what's going on, so all you see is the bad acting, silly dialogue, and general air of ludicrousness. Get to the second episode, and all of a sudden you start to get invested in it.

Edit: Oh and I just realized. Is it just me or do the guys standing next to Nick in this pic look like they're thinking, "Dude, did he just fart?" and Nick's thinking, "I just farted and they'll never know".

If he did, I pity Monroe, with his canine sense of smell!

On another point, has anyone watched that "Sh1t my dad says"? I've started to give it a chance, but Shatner's annoying me. I got watching it because it was him for the first time in a comedy (well, apart from TJ Hooker, right kids?) but he doesn't seem funny in it, and the supporting cast of characters, especially his son --- the one who lives with him --- is pathetic. I see no personality in any of them. The other son is just a copy of yer man from "King of Queens", or maybe Peter Griffin, his wife (though hot) is annoying, the gay guy who was their maid seems to have gone (the gay bar thing was mildly funny) and a lot of the scenes I can guess what's going to happen.

It doesn't even seem to revolve around stuff Shatner says, more the way he views the world. So far, the only thing funny is listening to the embarrassed announcer saying "Now we have another episode of --- "Stuff my dad says"! Right, that's why it's blanked out: the word is "stuff". Sure it is.

I'm wondering is it time to erase? I'm about five eps in, nothing special. Anyone know if it gets any better?

It doesn't. And it got cancelled anyway. Just delete it and watch Boston Legal instead.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I've struggled through another few eps but it just keeps getting more and more annoying. I hate the way Shatner never seems to get his comeuppance; he is just nasty to his kid, who seems to have a permanent stupid smirk plastered on his face, but Shatner never seems to have to answer for his frankly intractable attitudes, even when they're plainly wrong.

And the sister-in-law? Man she annoys me, even though she's good-looking and easy on the eye. The best part of the show is that dog. NOw I'm watching an episode where they decide to GET a dog, and I say to myself but what about the dog they already have? Turns out the episodes are being shown out of order, and this IS the dog they're supposed to have had. Confusing is not in it.

Yeah, I think I'm done with this.

Oh, and I watched some of "Boston legal": saw nothing in it that differentitated it from any other David E Kelley show. Okay, but nothing great. Don't see where all the love it gets is coming from...
