I've read Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and When You Are Engulfed in Flames, I'm kind of so-so on both. At times he's hilarious (mostly in engulfed) other times he gets too caught up in being a gay and superficial cliche.

I'd say too stereotypically gay. When he isn't one talking about how his parents were embarrassing him he was acting like a rich snob. He does managed to be hilarious though despite seeming like a total douchebag. I'll read Me Talk Pretty One Day at some point, you should definitely get engulfed. I can only compare it to Dress Your Family but it's leagues better. The humor isn't focused on trite things and some of the ideas themselves (like moving to Japan to quit smoking and quitting smoking purely because good hotels are non-smoking) are just hilarious even without the commentary.

Me Talk Pretty One Day is great, the part about his guitar teacher is hilarious, as is his time in France and French class. There are some parts that over do the stereotypical ***ness as you put it, but they're all hilarious and that's what counts. My absolute favorite Sedaris moment is the guy on the train in France who thinks he's a thief that doesn't speak English.

Once I finish the Idiot and get situated in college I'll grab it. On a slightly related note have you ever seen Strangers with Candy? His sister (Amy Sedaris) and Stephen Colbert created it (along with a two other people) and it's pretty funny.
