Do you have any advice to give me about Batman comics?
I read "The Dark Knight returns" by Frank Miller, recently, and I found it very interesting...

If you want, I can hook you up with some comic book download sites where you can find literally almost anything you could think of. That's the easiest way to really get into comics without spending all your money, and dealing with Amazon or special orders through your local comic book shop. Not saying you shouldn't buy comics (I still make my weekly pilgrimage to my comic shop and spend anywhere from $10 to $25 every time), but just like music downloading, I wouldn't have gotten into it or found so many things to spend my money on without it.
But as to Batman comics you should check out: for a more traditional B-Man experience that still has a high artistic level, you gotta go with The Long Halloween next, and then its sequel, Dark Victory; The Killing Joke is short, but it's also the definitive Joker story in comics, and has been the basis for every interpretation of the character since it was published in 1986 (it was pretty much the textbook that Nolan and Ledger followed for his portrayal in The Dark Knight Returns); after that, you need to check out all of Grant Morrison's comics, such as the surrealist acid trip that is Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, and then read his brilliant run on the monthly series in the early-mid 00's; and Scott Snyder's run on the current series is also pretty fantastic.
After that then there are five million other Batman comics that will rock your ****: Arkham Asylum: Living Hell by Dan Slott, The Man Who Laughs, Hush, etc. There's so much brilliant Batman out there that I have only scratched the surface, so this list isn't exhaustive by any means, but it's a good place to start.
