TFW you're enjoying Geoff Johns' 00's Green Lantern series and you run smack dab into a massive crossover event. It's Infinite Crisis, which I've been meaning to read, but crossovers can take discipline to get through since all of the tie-ins can easily run over a hundred issues and I just don't have the patience. I think I'm just gonna read the core mini-series and go back to the tie-ins if I feel like it later.

Free Comic Book Day is coming up! You guys are gonna have to enjoy it for me though, since I'm probably gonna be working all day. :(

My comic shop is out of business. :(

We're brothers in misery. :(:(

The Batlord 04-24-2017 02:14 PM

At the moment I just found the Joe Kelly Deadpool omnibus for $77 on Amazon instead of $100, so that's making me feel less miserable. Very close to pulling the trigger. Joe Kelly's Deadpool run is one of my favorite things about comics.

Edit: I really gotta stop looking at comic book omnibuses with a bank full of tax return money. That **** could get out of hand. Grant Morrison's X-Men calls to me as well.

Dude, when you're close to pulling the trigger on something, just listen to Better By You, Better Than Me and DO IT!

I'm seriously thinking of giving instocktrades.com a try. They got retardedly sick deals and from what I can gather are very reliable, even if their shipping takes forever apparently.

Oriphiel 04-24-2017 02:36 PM

Good luck with that, man. I usually just buy stuff in person or on ebay/amazon since I rarely go after expensive or hard to find stuff, so I've got no idea if that's a good site or not.

By the way, I've been reading Hulk, that She Hulk comic you told me about awhile back. Digging it so far. The only other series I'm keeping up with right now is Highlander: The American Dream. It's good stuff, way better than the Highlander cartoon. ;)

lol

I've done a bit of digging on that comic site and they seem to get the seal of approval from every source I check. I think they might be the real deal, so I'm gonna try it.

Everything I saw said In Stock Trades could take around two weeks to ship, but they were reliable and cheap. I ordered the omnibus for Grant Morrison's New X-Menlike on Monday or Tuesday, and it came today, Friday. In perfect condition too. So instocktrades.com has my support at the moment and I'll be using them again.

And god damn is this a big book. I guess it should be since it contains 41 issues, but I could ****ing murder somebody with this thing. This is a school text book.

How much? I paid $80ish for my Sandman Omni.

Also, I love how giant the Omnis are. I want a library filled with massive books like them just because.. Fantastic decor after you read. Is this your first one?

My first omnibus, but I have a few TPBs and graphic novels of some width. This is definitely my biggest yet though.

And I think it was $68, but would have been about $80 if it wasn't marked down.

DwnWthVwls 04-29-2017 11:29 AM

I watch this dude's videos sometimes.

$68 is great.

When I go back to buy more of the Fables series, I'll def check it out.. I have the first 6 of 14(?).

Chula Vista 04-29-2017 02:18 PM

I'm stuck 2/3rds of the way through V2 of Sandman. I'm about to give up. The narrative just keeps jumping all over the place.

Bat, you still interested at buying volumes 1 through 4 at half off?

I'm too lazy to figure out how to buy all that **** from you.

The Killing Joke was the first comic I ever bought with my own money. Didn't get the hype at first, but now it's the ****.

I want to ger into Preacher. I wanna binge season 1 of the tv show then head up the novel.

If you've read the comics beforehand, the show (at least so far) is incredibly disappointing

I haven't so it is better for me to watch the show then read it alters. Plus I am able to separate the two mediums.

Plus I love the actors in the show

I kinda want to get the pure experience first though. I imagine reading the comic after watching the show might lessen at least some of the impact.

No not really. If the comic is as great as people say then reading the comic will end up being pleasurable without spoiling the tv show. The tv show obviously won't be able to adapt in the same way as print so I give it leeway and look at it like a different take on it since it is a different medium.

The Batlord 04-30-2017 05:43 PM

I'm more worried about the show ruining the comic to some extent.

djchameleon 04-30-2017 05:46 PM

Separate the two.

Or just read the comic and not give thr show a chance but I love that guy from Misfits and also the hottie from Loving and I have seen her in other things just can't remember.

I am in it for those two actors.

Stephen 05-01-2017 07:19 AM

I loved the show. I imagine I would love the comic in a different way. Bit nervous about season 2. Really hope they live up to season 1.

If they stick to even 20% of the comic story line then it can't be worse than season 1

I guess season 1 is better thought of as its own thing

djchameleon 05-01-2017 05:22 PM

Aquaman!

Oh snaps that was two hours ago. What did you end up getting?

The Batlord 05-01-2017 05:27 PM

Why the hell did you go into a comic store? And so long as you got a Batman graphic novel then you probably did alright.

bulbasaur 05-01-2017 05:48 PM

i hope elphenor is still waiting outside of the comic book store refreshing the page for more suggestions

I hear there are timelines where The Police are really corrupt so I'd like to see more of an emphasis on that you know what I'm saying

**** poor people who cares. They listen to Nickelback and Lil Wayne.

And if you want Batman going up against corruption in the police and political establishment then Year One is what's up. It also just so happens to be like a top 5 Batman comic.

No, but he does ruin a rich people dinner party.

Behold, the dinner scene from Batman: Year One. The only Batman origin story that will ever matter. Damn it, now I wanna read it again.

And yes, it is actually referred to as "the dinner scene" by comic nerds.

Is it just me, or does Batman seem to have a moustache in the final panel, and, if he has, is it shaped like a bat? Or is that just the lighting?
