First of all, Alestorm has proven themselves to be talented for making a super badass cover of a Lazy Town song.

Second, for tose who love gangster movies and brothels, I highly recommend Luminahi by J. Wiesner on Deviantart. It's only 48 pages, but it's freakin' amazing. Fantastic story znd characters.

The Batlord 03-30-2016 01:18 PM

... What does Alestorm have to do with anything?

JGuy Grungeman 03-30-2016 09:52 PM

Thw gif in the last post was a clip from the Lazy Town song Alestorm covered. Look up "You Are a Pirate."

So I'm a total comic book noob outside of stuff I've learned from Marvel & DC video games or movies, but I've recently started the Planet Hulk series thanks to a recommendation from one of my friends, and this shit is awesome, I can see myself reading a lot more in the future.

Download this comic reader program to be able to read online comics. It's easy as watching rocket science.

Comic Rack - Downloads

And then download and read this, quite possibly the greatest Batman story ever told.

Batman - The Long Halloween

After this... there is too much to describe to do justice to where to go from here.

I've just been download torrents and reading them through the image viewer on my Mac, you can open the full comic in the viewer and then just use the mouse to flip through, pretty easy as is.

I'll definitely check out that Batman story, there's so many different characters I look forward to digging into.

Just give me a heads up as to what you want to get into. I got a whole network of piracy sites, and I can pretty much find you anything, from old school ****, to stuff that's come out this very Wednesday (the official "new comic book day" for all companies).

Batman? I got you.

Spider-Man? Hit me up.

X-Men? You're covered.

Deadpool? I know what to check out first.

I'd start with Ultimate Spider-Man. It was an alternate universe Spider-Man, launched after the first movie came in the early 00's out to basically start SM from scratch outside of the canon series, to allow new readers to get into it without having to worry about nearly forty years of continuity. It's pretty much the perfect re-imagining of Spider-Man for the modern day, distilling everything that makes him work in a way that still feels fresh. The original, sixties stuff is great, but Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty much Spider-Man perfected.

Of course there's the original ****.

The Amazing Spider-Man Volume 1 +2 + Annuals - Comix4Free

Spider-Man Blue is a great mini-series about the origin of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy's relationship that's more adult (as in mature, not R-rated) than your average comic book. It'll tug at your heart strings.

Why you peddling comics like a drug dealer? wasn't it enough you hooked me on them? how many lives must you ruin? :(

Btw, got anything on Franklin Richards? i hear he is OP as f*ck and his powers intrigue me, are his comics any good?

The Batlord 04-02-2016 09:54 AM

I know **** all about the Fantastic Four. Never even seen the movies. My only experiences with them are the 90's cartoon and the first few issues of Ultimate Fantastic Four (which was actually a pretty good series).

Black Francis 04-03-2016 08:53 AM

I saw the movies and despite their ratings i thought they were pretty good. I actually prefer Chris Evans as the Human torch than Captain America cause he played Johnny Storm as a cocky humourous character something he can't do with Captain America

I don't really follow the F4 comics either but im intrigued by their creation of Franklin Richards, if im not mistaken he's a beyond omega mutant who can warp reality as he sees fits.

If you're interested in the Fantastic Four, and if you also love cheesy b-movies, you've gotta watch Roger Corman's awful FF movie from 1994. It's legendary.

Well it certainly doesn't look like they're trying to go super serious, so I'd say fantastical and bizarre is a safe bet. You don't give a guy a bright red cape that comes up to his ears if you're going for "toned down".

Cumbersnatch ruins everything he's in. I'm not looking forward to Dr. Strange at all.

Decided to make a second attempt to get into Saga and finish up Anita Blake Vampire Hunter.

I've read the first few Anita Blake books, and they're kinda ****. The first couple were entertaining, but they try too hard to be an R-rated Buffy, and it's just kinda lame bull****. Maybe the comics are better than the books, but if they're not then they have no place on the bookshelf of anyone over the age of 18.

Got some more comics. :yeah:

http://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/...387/detail.jpg

A second helping of badass. Black Widow kicks the shit out of some more people, and a little bit of light is shed on her motivations. Just as good as the first. I don't want to spoil anything, but a russian guy may or may not get eaten by a lion in this issue.

http://boundingintocomics.com/wp-con...Land-cede2.jpg

Saw this at the store, and it caught my eye for obvious reasons. I wanted to like it, 'cause Xena, but it just didn't really come off as anything special to me. It might have helped if I'd read any of the previous Xena comics that have been put out over the years. Anyway, it was alright.

http://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/...91a/detail.jpg

Heh. If you think the idea of evil leather-clad gimps getting smacked around by a super hero sounds hilarious, then this is the comic for you. Two issues in, and Mockingbird is still awesome. Still, I'm kinda bummed that there are only three issues left.

http://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/...105/detail.jpg

Oh man, this shit made me laugh so goddamn hard. Probably my favorite issue so far. Chock full of sight gags, and I loved all the digs about Casiolena being a bargain bin Enchantress.

I've been getting into Kate Bush a lot lately, so when I saw this, I did a double take. Apparently, Rock 'n Roll Comics was a series back in the '90s that made unauthorized comic book biographies based on the lives of musicians. I doubt that they're all that accurate, but I don't give that much of a shit as long as they're entertaining. And yeah, if this issue is any indication, they're entertaining. It's packed with references to her songs, music videos, and live/televised performances, and the art and writing aren't awful. Why didn't anyone tell me that this shit existed sooner?! There's even supposed to be an issue dedicated to the music scene of '60s San Francisco. That shit better have the Ace of Cups in it, if it doesn't want to end up as toilet paper!

We're doing manga? good cause i recently started reading Danzai no judith.

http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/manga/3/130755l.jpg

Description:

Manipulating a demon with a worm-eaten body, the girl exterminates all sinners!! Accepting requests from the families of victims killed unreasonably, boys and girls are set on continuing to kill the sinners. They are responsible for this business without knowing when it will end, but also unable to live a different life,

What this description fails to mention is that in the between moments of the story there are some bdsm scenes.

JGuy Grungeman 04-19-2016 11:10 PM

Please rec me some not-so-adult seinens, like Initial D. Getting tired of shounen.

I started reading Batman recently, after seeing Batman vs Superman. I'm loving it. Batman is a charming character (not saying this because of Ben Affleck), I should have started to read it before.

If you want, I can hook you up with some comic book download sites where you can find literally almost anything you could think of. That's the easiest way to really get into comics without spending all your money, and dealing with Amazon or special orders through your local comic book shop. Not saying you shouldn't buy comics (I still make my weekly pilgrimage to my comic shop and spend anywhere from $10 to $25 every time), but just like music downloading, I wouldn't have gotten into it or found so many things to spend my money on without it.

But as to Batman comics you should check out: for a more traditional B-Man experience that still has a high artistic level, you gotta go with The Long Halloween next, and then its sequel, Dark Victory; The Killing Joke is short, but it's also the definitive Joker story in comics, and has been the basis for every interpretation of the character since it was published in 1986 (it was pretty much the textbook that Nolan and Ledger followed for his portrayal in The Dark Knight Returns); after that, you need to check out all of Grant Morrison's comics, such as the surrealist acid trip that is Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, and then read his brilliant run on the monthly series in the early-mid 00's; and Scott Snyder's run on the current series is also pretty fantastic.

After that then there are five million other Batman comics that will rock your ****: Arkham Asylum: Living Hell by Dan Slott, The Man Who Laughs, Hush, etc. There's so much brilliant Batman out there that I have only scratched the surface, so this list isn't exhaustive by any means, but it's a good place to start.

FranPZ 05-04-2016 04:04 AM

You gave me a lot of elements, thank you! Unfortunately, in my town and in the near ones, the aren't any comic shops, so I have to buy or read comics on the Internet. I bought online a few days ago a Snyder's 2015 comic, the vol.33. However, I think The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum will be the next ones that I'll try to find and buy. Maybe a whole life wouldn't be enough to read all Batman comics ahahaha, but I'll do my best!

I haven't gotten much past issue twenty or so of Snyder's run, but the opening arc, The Court of Owls, is fantastic, and Death of the Family (marking the return of the Joker, in quite possibly his most depraved incarnation in any medium) is also excellent.

Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum are definitely fantastic starting points. I will reiterate that you need The Long Halloween in your life. It's one of, if not the longest, Batman graphic novel, so you can really immerse yourself in it in a way that you can't with shorter books like the above two. It's the quintessential Batman story IMO. Oh, and I totally forgot to mention Year One. It was written by the same guy who did The Dark Knight Returns, and is generally regarded as the second-best Batman story ever (after DKR).

You are a real Bat-encyclopedia :D Now I'm searching for a website where I can read The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum in Italian (I understand English, but it's easier to read in my first language ahahaha). I will search for The Long Halloween too!

Good luck, but I doubt you'll be able to find anything like that. I've found a website that allows you to read The Killing Joke (in English), but other than that you'll have to download. And 99.9% of downloads are in English. I think you're just gonna have to bite the bullet and starting reading 'Murican.

I've found Spanish translations of certain comics on Pastebin.com, so that might help you, but I kind of doubt it. It's probably just the one guy posting Spanish translations.
