People fell in love with him with Empire though. I'm pretty sure he was brought back in Jedi because he was so popular.

It's not so much the character itself but what he stands for and his profession. Being a bounty hunter with a jet pack, cool looking armor and being able to hold your own against jedi is pretty damn cool overall. You have to dig deeper into the mythos of Bounty Hunters to really understand how bad ass they are. Sure Boba Fett was a fuck up but overall they are pretty ruthless and have flawless execution. Overall, I really don't like how they portray Bounty Hunters in the movies. They always show them messing up in some capacity.
Meh. He was just a dude and was not even in view of Darth Vader's league.

I was really big into Star Wars novels during high school.
I read the novels. He was...there. And don't mention those abortions in my presence. Even the "good" books were just readable.

Pox on your house for saying the novels were lackluster. Did you read his series?

Nah. I read enough with him in it, and the short story where he escaped the Sarlaac. That series would have to do a whole lot to bring me around.

And how can you like those books? Darksaber? Crystal Star? Children of the Jedi? New Rebellion? Abortions all. The X-Wing series was pretty entertaining when I was twelve, but I don't know that I'd really be able to appreciate them as much these days. Even more so with the Young Jedi series. Zahn's books were the only ones that truly justified the Expanded Universe, but his writing style made Stephen King look like Ernest Hemingway. I stopped reading around the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and I'd still like to finish those just for nostalgia purposes, and then of course I'll have to catch up on all these newer ones I see around. Read much mediocre writing will I.

As in the cartoon? Never saw it. Didn't have cable. Besides, it was the new trilogy that killed a lot of my love for Star Wars, so I wasn't really interested anyway.

The X-Wing series is what I fondly remember. I also enjoyed the Young Jedi series. I did read Zahn's books because I was going through the events chronologically after the events of Return of the Jedi. I am tempted to read up on the newer ones but I'm a bit overwhelmed and not sure where I'm going to start.

Why not just go chronologically? Oh and I almost forgot, if you're going to use the Expanded Universe to call someone your favorite character then how could you pick Boba Fett over Mara Jade? Emperor's hand? Smuggler AND a Jedi? Redhead? Win.
