This stupid ShamWow commercial is one of my most hated ads. Three things I'd like to mention about this ad:

This pitchman looks like the last thing he was selling was heroin under the boardwalk in Atlantic City.
What is his obsession with the thing being made in Germany? So what? Is Germany really known for its shammies?
"You're going to spend $20 a month on paper towels anyway..." Oh really? What kind of towel happy crackhead uses that many paper towels in a month?

Basically all ad's are a sham. They are offering something that they can't deliver. You could transpose this to actual situations. I guess the message is to restrain yourself and trust no one.
