Is it just me or anyone see a pattern?

Could be just me having too much time on his hands but it's kinda getting annoying. Ever since the show called Lost came out and became popular, the crappy network keeps getting another show out with some interesting premise and a gimmick being a title with just one word, Heroes, House and Dexter.

Not that I'm saying those aforementioned shows are bad but there are slew of copycat shows with the same gimmicks being previewed to be aired next week.

It gets on my nerves which is why beside the news, I don't ever watch TV.

Sorry, I just wanted to get this off from my mind.

jackhammer 11-10-2008 08:43 AM

When a template becomes successful it will then be milked to death until the next big thing comes along. I really do hope they know where they are going with Lost. The actual premise is excellent but I think they are dragging it out and hope that they can tie all the loose ends together.

I have heard good things about 'Dexter' but like yourself, I am not a huge watcher of T.V series.

Dr_Rez 11-10-2008 08:52 AM

Reality TV is the worst. Theres reality shows based offf other reality shows now.

Veronica Lodge 11-10-2008 09:17 AM

There's a lot of great one namers out there.

And, they've been around for AGES...

I do agree, however, that TV nowadays is terrible.
There are very few well written shows out there.

Can Curb please come back? It's due next year, yes?

kthedrummer 11-10-2008 10:02 AM

Season 7 of Curb begins filming in December. Larry David is filming a Woody Allen movie right now. So I am guessing season 7 will start to air in May of 2009.

Veronica Lodge 11-10-2008 10:06 AM

May eh?
I heard that he's still writing...?

I can't wait for that day to come though. I will rejoice.

Roygbiv 11-10-2008 10:12 AM

This is why we should all be watching "Pushing Daisies"

Totally true. You'll always see this in television and movies.

I love LOST, I hope it finishes well. As for the 'copycat' series, I haven't really watched them. So I guess that goes to show that while they're copycat-ing, they aren't as successful or popular as the 'original' ideas.

Big McLargeHuge 11-11-2008 04:25 AM

I like LOST, but it gets pretty ridiculous at times (see the fourth season finale)

Also Benjamin Linus is one of the greatest characters in television history.

I used to like Heroes too, but it really started to suck around season 2.

Seltzer 11-11-2008 05:02 AM

Lost lost the plot a long time ago (no pun intended). Heroes is becoming a festering pile of shit. Prison Break is the only consistently good show of the three IMO.

I usually watch comedy anyway.

FaSho 11-11-2008 07:20 AM

I wish Heroes could be as good as it used to be. Season 2 took the concept way to far.

Yes! Great show all around.

Blue 11-12-2008 11:14 PM

I generally don't really watch TV. I just don't really get much fulfillment from it, so I generally spend my time doing other things.

FaSho 11-13-2008 02:42 PM

And why did we need to know this...?

It's a part of the pattern.

simplephysics 11-25-2008 04:13 PM

Ahh, isn't that creeper from Fringe? He's awesome.

Astronomer 11-25-2008 04:17 PM

He's from Lost, too!

simplephysics 11-25-2008 04:19 PM

Shii, I stopped watching Lost after the second season. :o:

Fair enough, I can definitely understand why... ha :D

mannny 11-26-2008 11:39 PM

Lost is so above everything else on TV right now. Every other show wants to be like Lost but they can't do it.

Fringe is actually a pretty good show. Although some of the concepts are completely farfetched, and the lead actress can get annoying it's still pretty entertaining.

Yeah, Walter is the man!

Life on Mars really?

I chalked that up to the soiled diaper pile of TV.

It's a quality show...oh wait, must be Urban sarcasm.

I love Lost, the last season was a bit rushed though and it got a little corny. Still the first two seasons were so well written and so captivating I'm hooked. Love the literary references that inundate the plot and dialog of the show.

Take that back

At least it has characters rather than a checklist of demographic stereotypes.

I happen to love racial and demographic stereotypes.

someonecompletelyrandom 11-27-2008 02:27 PM

I dunno man, I think Fringe has been getting worse with each episode. Most of the actors are pretty mediocre, not to mention it's a complete X Files rip off, they need to bring that show back instead.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 11-30-2008 12:13 AM

FaSho 11-30-2008 10:04 AM

It was rather inevitable that Lost was gonna make a turn for the bizarre in it's later seasons. And considering all the fan theories there were since the beginning about it being purgatory or having something to do with aliens or an alternate dimension or whatever, time traveling island isn't all that whack in comparison to the other directions the show could have taken, at least it wasn't as predictable.
