The Dark Souls remaster had a rough release because of that very thing. They made people pay for the remaster and got rid of the original on Steam. And the remaster didn't do anything so different to warrant another price tag. |

I'm used to this new standard of milking the sht out of the same game. Especially if you play a game without Dlc's and get a fulfilling experience but if you want to expand that universe a bit you can buy some Dlc's. This is how i felt with fallout 3 and NV and Borderlands but with a game like Mass effect that you already had to buy in chapters it seems more greedy cause the take is more than the give. If you feel forced to buy a dlc to actually make the game good that game failed you and you're paying for a Dlc to fix that, that's just greedy game design imo.
You can feel that sht. You can feel how a game twists your arm by showing you the new cool sht they just added and the community around that game unconsciously or consciously peer pressure you to keep up to the point you might sink in a few hundred dollars on cosmetics in a free game cause you just wanted to play with your friends and keep up with them. (im mainly talking about multiplayer online games in this part) Ofc you always have the choice to not jump in that bandwagon but you gonna be excluded from that trendy game everyone is playing and talking about.

A) dont think the game is good enough to keep players engaged so they try to bring in extra profit through additional content or in game purchases or B) just dont really care how their player base receives the game as long as they are making the most money possible. i dont care about loot boxes or cosmetics. it's making someone pay $60 more in DLC to finish a game they already that much for in the first place. or rewarding a player who can fork out a fortune in a pay to win model while making someone who cant afford it have to grind twice as hard.

I don't mind paying for games that are good. Hell, I have 23 premium ships in World of Warships, and the game is "free" ![]() but removing huge chunks of the story, and not just random filler but the conclusion of game 2 for example (The Arrival DLC) or 90% of all interactions between characters you learned to know and love over the 3 games (citadel dlc, yes it's so full of character fluff) ? That's simply stupid. It's like a musician releasing a song to promote a record, only to not include it on the actual record, unless you pay extra. Or another way: choose your favorite franchise, whether it's a movie, tv series, book, game - it doesn't matter. And in the middle, change the focus from what made it stand out, to making more money because hey, you're already hooked right ? So you won't mind paying extra for the content that should have been included initially. I am all for big addons that build on the original game - look at the Witcher for one. Sure the expansions costed 20$ each, but they delivered a lot of quality and didn't mess with the main game at all. In ME ? pay 15$ for a dlc that will only take an hour to finish, but it's an absolutely crucial link between 2 and 3, story wise. because fu*k you, that's why. To end: if their only motivation is to make money, maybe they should have started a Dunder Mifflin type company and sell copy paper, instead of ****ting over what millions of people got emotionally involved with. |

ive been playing dead by daylight off and on since release but for the last couple of weeks it’s been a daily play.
both it and Friday the 13th are a ton of fun and i really hope we see more games explore the asymmetrical horror survival genre. DBD could definitely be bettered, simply because exploiting things like pallet looping and killer’s with garbage internet connections are beyond frustrating.
