Everything before that seems like a stroll through candy land.

I have not. Holy ****.

i had no desire to play this game when it was released as it essentially looked like minecraft meets the sims + guns. actually when you put it like that it kind of sounds cool, but anyway it looked dumb. regardless Epic has joined the group of game developers who have decided to rip off PUBG and make the most of this battle royale trend in gaming. strangely enough, the new game mode kind of works.

it's pretty cartoony and over the top but that alongside the build feature leads the game to be a lot more creative and a bit less stressful than you're normal H1 or PUBG game tends to be. in saying that, most of the mechanics are a straight up rip from those games. sept 26th they're releasing the mode in full which will supposedly contain squads and character customization so that should improve the game a lot in terms of replayibility. add to this the fact that they plan on making this a free to play game in 2018 (both the BR mode and the normal co-op/single play mode the game was launched with) and i think it more than warrants a go.

anyway i'm going back to play because i have 3 top 5 finishes but still haven't won a game yet.

I bet that even has sound verticality...in pubg you just guess which level the person is on.

you know what, i didn't even notice if it did. i'm almost always in voice chat with friends when i'm playing so while my headset picks up game sound it gets drowned out or straight up ignored by me most of all the time.

I have several PS1 games standing around that I've never really gotten that far in. I tried my hand on the two above and... holy crap, this is a big reminder that games used to be way harder than they tend to be these days. I'd say both of these games qualify as 'infuriating'. Screw Dark Souls. In ODT, saves are far apart and single use, despite the game having a sort of semi open hub structure. It's bull**** and I really don't feel sure that I'll ever get anywhere in this game. It will get another chance tomorrow or something. I've already given up on Ronin Blade after just 1 hour with it. That game is impossible. At least impossible without monumental patience.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is amazing and I can't stop playing it.

First time I played a game like this since Baldurs Gate. I had forgotten how cool a genre it can be.

The dialogue options actually have consequences, the combat is good, and it is really deep.

I'd rather play something that's not determined to use me as a grindstone.
Something that feels decently challenging, not downright punishing. The save system in ODT is out for blood for sure.

I played #1 the enhanced edition less than a year ago and loved it but never beat it. Ive heard only positive things about the new ones and how they took everything good about the first game and made it even better. Ill probably pick it up at some point.

I'll have to give it a try, I played the 1st one too and while it had great potential, I didn't find it as fun as I was hoping - fights were very tough and you had to approach them in a specific order that severely limited the "open" world. Story was very generic. Many quests were so hidden it wasn't even funny.
On the other hand, the game had a great dialogue system, great combat and in general, gameplay was stellar. Some design choices were questionable, but it was a game from a young, obscure studio, and they were still learning.

I've been playing X-com: Enemy Within and I have to say, it's been a while since I had a game that I would sit down to play just, only to realize that somehow 7 hours have passed.
