I'm in a sort of gamer crisis where I can't play anything for more than 10 minutes without getting bored or frustrated. I haven't used my consoles for more than a week now, and what little I have played over the last couple months has been really thinly spread out.

Is it permanent? Should I see a doctor? Maybe it's natural to stop caring about games. I'd rather watch movies, listen to music, read, etc. If this carries on, then I'm stuck with 5 consoles and a few hundred games.

I have the same thing, but for pretty much everything except for music I'm already familiar with I love. Though, it's easier to get into new music than to watch a movie.

These days I sometimes have more of an interest in analyzing/critisizing games for future articles than actually playing them.

I guess for me it's less that I'm sick of games and more that i'm depressed, but whatever.

I have noticed straight to the point games I can easily pick up and play yet are still challenging right away that have little to no filler keep my attention a lot better though. For example, Furi became my favourite recent game and it is just bossfights. It's challenging, but not so difficult I give up. I'd love to get good at more complex straight to the point games like Bayonetta and DMC4 but I just lack the motivation/am too tired and playing casually isn't all that engaging.

edit: Wait, to answer the thread question: The latest thing I played was parkour platformer cloudbuilt. Really good, but it really is a stage by stage game with no kind of pacing so it can be hard to keep my attention. It's the equivelent of having an album with good individual songs but it just feels like a bunch of random collection of songs put in a random order. Luckily they are songs you want to play over and over to get to know them better though (and in this case master them)

This is how it started. It got worse and worse for me, until I sold my console and games. It's been almost 2 years other than playing the occasional game on steam. You should get it checked out if you don't want it to be permanent.

I hope I won't get permenantly ****ed by this serious disease. It's been getting to me since I'm 18 or something. The worst part is that movies hold my attention even less because they always have.

Add me on steam if you want to duo / squad with voice!

I've added you, although I'm not as good as duo play as I am at solo play.

Switch to PC. Your console frustration will go away.

You might be on a downward spiral but it will pick up eventually.

I have a hard time playing games for longer than 15 mins or so. That is why I have been playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so much lately. I can just jump on and do a quick circuit then turn my switch off. Or do a few online races and jump out. I don't have the attention to stick with Zelda anymore. I usually do maybe one shrine then turn it off if that.

What have you been playing? I've been in situations like that before, where I can never decide on what to play because I have too many games so I just cycle through them, playing a few minutes and then turning off. The solution I've found is to either go to a completely narrative focused game like Monkey Island, Dear Esther, The Stanley Parable, etc., or go to a game that is almost entirely gameplay focused like Dark Souls, Hotline Miami, etc. where the narrative is largely irrelevant.

I don't want to have to sell all my gaming junk, but if that's the way it goes... I can always use some money, I guess.

I've been a big fighting game/arcade game fan for years and a lot of what I've been playing in recent months has been stuff like that. King of Fighters, Street Fighter, Tekken... Some arcade shooters, stealth games, Armored Core. My favorite types of games, basically. I don't seem to have the patience/interest for them anymore. Right now at least. Feels weird!
Narrative games never really held my attention and I'm burned out 100% on everything open-world and/or RPG related.

The thought has crossed my mind. Maybe I'd like some relaxed indie titles? I'm not so sure...

It's exactly those sort of challenging, technical things I've got no patience for anymore. I used to love that kind of thing. Maybe I could just about deal with some point and click adventures or something. It's been many years since I've dabbled in that. I seriously feel like I get more out of watching movies and listening to music though. There's so many classics I need to catch up to, so maybe I should just quit fighting against it and give in... Maybe losing interest in games can turn out to be a good thing? If that's what's going on? I don't really know... It would certainly give me more time for other things.

Bro, your Steam backlog will start to look like your music backlog. Go PC.
