This was overhyped for me. It's unusual to find a FPS that is open yet precise but that's what Far Cry balances well. You can scout the terrain, snipe enemies from a long distance away and silently sneak past a patrol or pick them off one by one. The ai is well-above average, particularly in navigating the open terrain, and concentrating fire on the player. If you try to go straight through the enemies you won't get very far. As fun as the outdoor sections are, the cramped corridor sections are pretty much the worst, and remind me of everything I hate about DOOM 3. There is a door every five seconds, and you move so slowly that the pacing takes a huge hit. This game is at its best when you are outside and have the freedom to move around. The tank-like enemies that take so much to kill are a bother as well. I do appreciate that the designers paid as little attention to the story as possible. It literally plays like DOOM in that you're just thrown into chaos from the beginning. Also this game takes the cake for the worst cutscenes I've ever seen in a game. I might go so far as to say that a wall of text plot outline like DOOM used would have been an improvement. |

I've never bothered with the FarCry series. It all feels overrated to me from the gameplay videos I've watched.

Far Cry 3 was surprisingly fun and well written. I wouldn't bother with any of the others, but 3 ? Man, it was a wild ride. This is how the game begins.
The game actually makes you (well, it made me) care. It's not only well done shooting in a sandbox environment, the story is actually quite good. Oh and it hasn't aged as horribly as te 1st one has FC2 was gorgeous for its time and had many seemingly cool features (like a spreading fire you could use) but was broken at the same time on so many levels, it was a chore to play. FC4 - it's a bit prettier 3, only without an involving plot - got boring pretty soon, didn't finish. |

I've been hoping for a good WW1 game for the longest. Will have to check it out.

I've also wanted to get into Verdun but its player count has been pretty low ever since Battlefield 1 came out. According to Steam Charts, it's averaged 400 concurrent players for the last 30 days and I'm guessing those are the ones who have absolutely mastered the game and its meta.

If you haven't played Blood Dragon and you have any interest in 80's action/sci fi movies...play it now. Michael Biehn does the voice acting and it is glorious.

I actually own 2 copies of blood dragon they gave it away a while ago for free and a while before that, a gaming mag included it as a bonus .. and have yet to play it, despite knowing how good fc3 was and how amazing it is .. I will get to it eventually.

Currently I'm in the middle of these:
Gears Of War 3, then Gears 4, then Judgment Arkham Knight Bought Battlefront today, have yet to play it The Last Guardian The flack The Last Guardian is getting is baffling to me, it's seriously contender for my favorite game of last year.
