Played a bit more of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and since I was able to fix that annoying head bobbing effect while I walk, the game is so much more enjoyable. I can definitely see the addictive nature of this. Very much enjoying it.

One thing that bothers me is that if you save within earshot of an enemy and then reload, they hear you for no apparent reason. So you have to save before you go near anyone or else you'll reload and then get your ass lit up with buckshot. I like saying buckshot.

And by "head bobbing effect" do you mean when you walk like a real person walks? Was weird at first but now it's cool and I don't notice it. Like in real life.

Yeah, but there's nothing more satisfying than getting the final blow.

And yeah, it made me feel naucious for some reason. Otherwise, it's great.

The dogs keep killing me though. They're relentless. Overall having a good time with the game though. The difficulty curve is up in the Dark Souls caliber for me.

The dogs haven't gotten me yet. Just fire off a few rounds and they scatter. It was sweet as hell using that as a tactic to occupy a bunch of dudes I was supposed to sneak by too. Was just a pandemonium of *******s popping off at terrified mutant dogs while I just gave them all the finger and slipped by.

That sounds amazing actually. During the 2nd mission, I was getting to where the "next level" area was, and two enemies popped up. I was Ill prepared, but then an "ally" popped out of nowhere and killed a guy. It was amazing. Then I killed him with a shotgun.

Pretty sure that guy was important not to shoot.

You're getting prepared, good. It's starting today you know...
Chernobyl nuclear disaster covered by New Safe Confinement structure

As for the game, I assume you're running the patched version, right ? Originally it was so.. bad, it was almost unplayable. Getting out of that swamp was a real challenge and for example getting to most artifacts was close to impossible. Oh right, you know about the artifacts, right ? Many anomalies (and I'm sure you ran into a couple at least by now) hold sometimes very powerful artifacts that can make the game a lot easier (mostly because they are worth a lot and you can't complain about having too much $ in this game).. but getting to them most of the time is a bitch. Use a detector (the first one you get is crap iirc, but it's better than nothing) and locate the artifact. Often there is a very specific way of getting to it, sometimes you can grab it and get away before you die .. save, throw bolts around to find a safe passage etc.

Anyway, even though in my part of the world the game was huge, I only got to it a lot later once it was patched .. and I have to say, it was one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I had, this feeling of overcoming and/or outsmarting a very challenging world, that's something I can't say I see often.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition

Jus installed this and I'm having a ****ing blast. Finally a hack n slash game that I can potentially sink a lot of time into. Never played the original, but this remastered version looks and controls great.

The first game was tongue-in-cheek as hell, but I don't remember it being straight up cartoonish; the second game upped the over-the-top ridiculousness but was still relatively grounded in actual gang warfare. But I saw the writing on the wall that the next game would be going even further.
That's why I kinda like SR2 more than 3. SR3 is fine but I played the 2nd one way more. I remember renting it about the time Gta4 was popular and thinking SR2 was more fun.
