Little annoyed right now. A new mobile CCG came out called Animation Throwdown, and it stars characters from Family Guy/Futurama/American Dad/King of the Hill/Bob's Burgers. The card game itself is fairly fun and the characters are great, so I was really excited to get into the game.
But holy hell the pay to win is INSANE. Not only is it extremely hard to get the best cards (and the best cards absolutely stomp on the common cards you start off with), but you also have to upgrade each card individually, AND you have to suffer through long ass timers to unlock the best combos (and of course you can spend real money to speed that process up too).
This definitely isn't the first game to deploy a business model like this. Basically I'd bet it costs about $5,000 or so to max out an account, and at that point you will absolutely roflstomp every single other person who downloads the game because fully maxed out legendary cards are ridiculously better than everything else. The developers designed it so that it would take decades to max an account out without paying so basically it's really hard to motivate myself to sink time into it knowing I will absolutely never have everything available to me and will never be on the same playing field as the top players. Sucks because the concept and gameplay are fun and this is the kind of game I could get really into if not for these flaws
