MGS I only bought because I'm a MGS nut despite the constant silly storylines that have plagued the series over the years. General opinion is that V is full of too many cinematic sequences which is something that has always dominated MGS games anyway, but this time around from what I've read they're even more dominant at the cost of gameplay than they've ever been before.

The game itself is "cinematic", with each episode introduced like an episode in some 80's tv show. Every MGS has a theme aside from the preachy philosophical one that dominates the stories - for example MG3 had a lot of references to James Bond movies since it took place in the 60's. Since V takes place in the 80's, I'm not surprised there are a few references to that era. That's what people mean by it...it actually has very little in terms of cutscenes and dialogue. In fact, I was a tad disappointed by the lack of story. It was a great game, but MGS was known for over the top story and I loved it. If that was a problem for you, you'll probably really enjoy V.

I saw you mention the Witcher above. Personally, I think the Witcher is one of the best games I've played in a while. I'm constantly impressed with how the decisions you make actually impact what happens later...and in a way that you can't just reload an earlier save and "make the right decision". There are decisions you have to make that don't reveal their consequences until much later and after you've made significant progress, pretty much forcing you to live with your ****ty decision. For example, I just hooked up with both Triss and Yennifer - I know this will probably bite me in the ass later since they are more or less competing for my affection, but right now I'm happily riding along the countryside knowing I got to see both of them naked. They'll probably find out at some point later and then they'll both be pissed at me. I won't know until then, though...

**** knows how long it's going to take me to play all that. :finger:

Congratz but why no Fallout?

Good price.

I'm another who enjoyed Shadows of Mordor. Technically it's very poor and plain ugly in parts, but the combat mechanics are very satisfying.

What I understood from the opinions on the game, is that people were a bit peeved that they had to sit through long cinematic sequences with little gameplay, but it's possible I may have misread that if you're stating that it's not the case.

Because MGS is probably one of my all time favourite series, I'd pretty much put up with anything from it whether it be its crazy storylines or long cutscenes, because I always know the actual gameplay is usually going to be 5 star, anyway I'm about to start it as my second game so will have an opinion on it pretty soon.

Main game is Witcher 3 I've played a couple of hours of it and after that dubious start of oh **** I'm never going to remember on how to use all these combat, magic and alchemy options I've slowly gotten into it and am building my character and getting to grips with combat and magic.

Initially I compared it to Skyrim but at the moment am starting to realize that it is something special and I've purposefully read little about it so to keep everything as a new experience and I'm already engrossed in it.

Both new and second hand it was the same price as Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor and MGS put together :finger:

In about 3 months it will drop in price and they'll be loads of them floating around, so I'll pick it up then.

I'm going to try and fit that into my playing schedule around the Christmas period.

That's what I thought about GTA V, but at least as of a few months ago a used copy was still selling, at best, $10 under a new copy ($50 as opposed to $60).

Yet if i decided to trade in my GTA they'd probably give me like 20 bucks for it.

GTA V was actually one of the games I traded in and it didn't get as much as expected around £7 which is about $10 or 11 on PS3.

The Batlord 12-01-2015 03:52 PM

Still a lot more than you'd ever get for just about any other used game.

Black Francis 12-01-2015 03:55 PM

Yet as Batlord mentioned even a used copy of GTA V is still around 40 to 50 dollars which is true cause ive seen it too. For GTA V though, i think that's a fair price cause that game is gonna remain relevant until the next GTA comes out, Fallout 4 however is surely to drop in price eventually. i'd be surprised if it doesn't follow the same pattern as the previous Fallout games where eventually they start including dlc's in some "game of the year' bundle with a lower price.

Im thankful New vegas was cheap as hell. i bought that game for 20 dollars.
