Right now it's just pending, so it will probably come back to me by tomorrow. It's a shame though because the game has a lot of potential to be good, but I just can't abide a shit port, especially with Shadowrun: Hong Kong coming out tomorrow.

I tested out the refund when I played a few hours of The Darkness 2. I liked the game, but the mechanics and controls were a little difficult to get used to. I haven't really made a big purchase for a game since I've got so many that I've been playing lately.

Dungeon Siege III

I picked up the triple pack on sale and got all three Dungeon Siege games. I was honestly more interested in the first game as I have fond memories of it in my childhood, however I wasn't expecting to be playing more of the third one than the other two. This game has pretty much a lot of things that I like. Top down view, fluid combat, awesome skill trees (with 3 separate things to earn skill points in). I've only played a little bit of the first part of the game, but the game already feels huge and there's a lot of depth in terms of the story and character that you choose (which you can choose between 4). The combat so far feels really good. It's click intensive as most of these types of games are, but I feel like I have complete control over the combat kind of like in Torchlight II where you don't have to click exactly on the enemy to lay an attack, it's very easy to get into the combat and not get too frustrated. The game is a bit dated in terms of interface, etc, but the graphics look fantastic in ultra quality. The story seems pretty cool too, but again, I've only played a little bit. The voice acting also seems pretty spot on. Certainly enjoying this a lot.

Im just starting Vandal hearts 2 for the Ps1.

Vandal hearts is a tactical rpg along the lines of Ogre battle or of FF tactics and the story it's just as trite as the ones in those games. Some evil empire is taking over the world and you have to stop them. It seems every tactical rpg is about that same sh*t, i just started the game but i already know what is gonna be all about, it's gonna be about the politics and drama of that evil empire.

On the first scene of the game they establish your MC is a peasant knight and they show the evil empire burning down a village for harboring a fugitive. Maybe ive played too many tactical rpgs cause this story is too damn familiar and formulaic, it feels like the company that made this game saw the success of FF tactics and said : "Let's just do that."

The Tactic rpg is a great genre but the last innovation on it was Fire emblem. We need new games in that genre that break the mold and revitalise it.

^Tactical RPG is certainly an underrated genre and I'm with you. I'd love a reboot of the genre in this day and age. I'm sure someone could make something amazing.

By definition, a knight is not a peasant.

Now play Typing Master. Though it's too easy but I like this anyway.

I remember playing the first one back in the day. I was pretty impressed with the variety of gear you could get. There were some crazy looking swords in that game. Memories...

The first one is pretty decent and I had a lot of fun with it back in the day, but man, the graphics are super dated and the controls seem a little off, but it's still a good game nonetheless. DS3 is a lot of fun with as much as I've played so far. The quests seem really cool and different from each other and the environments are really well put together like with the small towns and camps and stuff.

I'm not surprised...I'm pretty sure I ran that game on my old Gateway PC...500 Mhz, 15 GB HD, 128 MB Ram. I Frankensteined the hell out of that thing and kept it running for a solid 8 years. I wonder what 500 Mhz will get you these days...

Anyway, I digress. I feel inspired to check out 3 now.

Definitely do check it out. Its got its flaws because of it being an older game but its fun nonetheless. The skill tree / abilities is probably my favorite thing since there's so much to it.
