ScummVM :: Compatibility - DEV
Download Full Throttle - My Abandonware

Have fun.

Flashback (1992)

I never played the PC version, but I did watch a friend play the SNES version and remember being blown away from the animated cutscenes. I also really liked the rotoscoped animations that still look pretty cool to this day. It's also a really cool touch how you can run straight into a wall and bounce off of it, especially for 1992. Was a bit of a faff getting it to work at least with sound, but I eventually sorted it out.

You can legally get those games from GOG.com and they come with a built in DOSbox front end so you just double click on an icon and the game boots up normally. I only use ScummVM or DOSBox for games that are no longer available for purchase, otherwise I'd rather spend $6 and not have to fuck around.

That said though, I don't know why you want to play Police Quest or Space Quest, they're not very good examples of the genre and are really only a fun little relic if you grew up with those types of adventure games. If not then they are going to be frustrating, confusing, poorly presented, and all around kind of a mess.

You've summed it up nicely

It was pretty easy though, I mean I really only had a walkthrough up for crime code things I had to enter when I booked people. Honestly though there's really no story here, you just kind of meander around, going through scene-to-scene, then finally you find out what it is you're suppose to be doing, then you do it. I will say this for it though, no stupid fucking mazes.
I just like the idea of playing a game with police procedures and the Police Quest games looked nice from some of the screenshots. Most of the Kings, Police and Space quest games underwent big graphical improvements in the 90s as well, which is no surprise as the series are quiet long, but I understand that they might not be the best place to start for a gamer.

I think the Delphine adventure games are some of the worst for that, although some of the really old Sierra games like Manhunter: New York are pretty punishing for that.
The Delphine games were some of the first adventure games I ever played when they first came out and the two I remember were Cruise for a Corpse and Operation Stealth.

A lot of the games have been mentioned so far on the last few pages

Anyway like you I'm very interested in playing a whole load of point and click adventure games and have made up a huge list that I want to try and get through in the next year or so. Maybe I'll try and play 1 a week or 1 every two weeks as I know most aren't that long and as they're quite relaxing they're easy to play.

If you want to start somewhere really great I recommend either the Monkey island or Broken sword games but if you want something older then I guess it depends on how patient you are with the graphics and the playing restrictions, like dying for anything, silly mazes or just really hard puzzles.

The very first adventure game I ever played was a game called Eureka back in 1984/85 and hell I love to see a remake of that classic.
