Are the Saints Row games like the GTA games? Also do you have to play them all or can you jump in anywhere with them?

I will also say that the game plays really well with a keyboard and mouse. Originally I thought I was going to need to use my PC controller, but I tried the keyboard and mouse and it's a lot better. |

^I haven't played GTA V yet. I've seen people play it through lets play etc, but I don't own a copy for myself. I'm waiting for it to come on sale because I don't want to spend 60 bucks on a game that I've already seen a lot of footage on. I do want to have it for myself, but I won't pay full price. Saints Row seemed to be a good alternative because for one, the games seem to be pretty amazing from my experience so far, and they were on sale.

You can certainly jump in pretty much anywhere, as the series isn't about intricate storytelling the way GTA is -- though as I am an OG fan who played all the games in sequence, I'd still say that starting from the beginning would give you the best appreciation for the series. Quote:

^San Andreas is one of the best GTA games that I've ever played. And yeah, I'm definitely not regretting getting Saints Row. I feel like i'll be putting plenty of hours into both games. I've been playing Saints Row The Third pretty much all day today.

I've beaten 3 and 4 so many times in the past year that I know them like the back of my hand. Another thing in Saints Rows' favor is how much you can customize your characters. You aren't limited to be a stock character (I have created a convincing Harley Quinn, Joker, and She-Hulk), the clothing options are far more diverse, and the cars... oh man, the cars.
