Just bought the Zone of Enders HD remake for 360. Stoked. Loved the original.

Well I beat the Wolf Among Us already.. Short game, I might do another run and just beat the hell out of everyone possible. I know your options change the outcome but the basic storyline is still the same. It was a great play through but I don't think it's worth the $25.

That's a point many pick up - it's not worth the money. Well, for me the 7-8 hours it took me to get through season one was definitely worth the $. How many games out there cost 40$ and only offer a 6 hour long single player campaign and some crap excuse for a multiplayer ?
And that's only the length, another issue is quality - Wolf Among Us is, when taking only writing and atmosphere into account, a AAA game. The story is great, characters memorable and I really don't mind spending my hard earned money on titles like this |

^ on that argument, im gonna go ahead and say that length comes 2nd to quality.
Shadow of the colossus is a 6 hr game if you know how to beat each colussus and i could pass Super mario world in 2 hr and they're still great games worth their retail price HOWEVER length becomes an issue whenever a player doesn't feel satisfied by his game experience. You could make a 30+ plus hour game but that means sh*t if it's not memorable or if it's a chore to get through. Whenever a player becomes aware the game was either too short or too long that's when the game failed at drawing them in. i remember playing FF8 and going through all the sh*tty convoluted story and it was near the end of Disc 4 the game got good. All the middle hours of quality content? F*ckin fillers. Pacing > Length

Only fallout games had a similar impact on me - despite wanting to try out every possible option, I never managed to force myself to become a slaver or a Ceasars legion member. I just couldn't do it. Games that get you emotionally involved like this are rare and should be treasured. A great example of a good game that didn't get it right was Skyrim - tons of great features and a completely emotionally un involving world and characters. |
