I know that's not necessarily the biggest concern for everyone, but I've sort of got to the point where I have to do everything to the max. I'll actually spend days going through the same area searching for the same Pokemon with the stats that I want, discarding countless others of the same species just because they don't measure up to my standards. I even keep a notebook handy so that I can keep track of the stats of that particular Pokemon just so I'll know what the highest stats are for each attribute. It's actually gotten to the point where it's almost impossible to finish a game before I lose interest and move onto something else. Same thing with Fire Emblem too.
Oh you are what we call Min/Max'ers. There are a dedicated group of people that do similar stuff like that for World of Warcraft and they have a site called ElitistJerks where they work out all the max stats you can get and the best rotations and all that jazz. I just play with what I have and do work. I still take down the Final Four without even having a perfect set up like you try to achieve. I'm so boss at pokemon that I normally just take the first six pokemon that I catch and take them all the way through to the Final Four so it's usually a party filled with normal type pokemon with one or two that are different.

He does do huge one hits then sometimes someone will attack him and it's just like "lol no" and his HP doesnt change. I nicknamed him Hodor

#teamfiretype as well tbh

It's not like I try to be an elitist. It's just that I think of a way to do something that seems better than I was already doing, and I just can't NOT do it that way anymore. I'd like to use a more laidback approach just for my sanity, but I can't. It's a compulsion.

I can never stick with nicknames. I always have to change them constantly. I imagine at this point in time I'd have to use Mass Effect names for my Pokemon. A Kadabra named Liara, an Arcanine named Garrus, a Scyther named Thane, etc. Otherwise they would be based on the legend of Sigurd (old Norse myth I've semi-obsessed with.)

Hm im not huge on flying types either but I think there are quite a few that I like (although they usually are mixed with other types anyways.). I usually just have one around to use fly but rarely have one in my party to actually battle with. Electabuzz is p cool but ive never used him and probably wouldnt.

Im a big fan of Fire, Ice, Bug and Water types. Bug is usually kinda weak stats wise but they look so damn cool (ala Scyther, Pinsir, Beedrill, etc). Have a pinsir on my team in x and he owns bones.

And the best thing about grass types having them in combination with fire types. Having sunny day on is great for both sides (Solarbeam, Synthesis, fire attacks, etc) so its a nice 1-2 punch

Yeah, most flying type are kind of ****ty, so I always just use a Dragonite. They fly and I can teach them mad TMs. Earthquake, Fly, Ice Beam, and I think...Brick Break maybe are what I use for him.

Just use a sword dance and any weakness in Scyther/Pinsir is removed. Do three and you've got something to crush an entire enemy party.

Roughly half way through Zelda Wind Waker HD on the Wii U now. It's aged extremely well and, after playing GTA V for weeks, it's so nice to play a colourful, imaginative and cheerful game.

Shadow Warrior (2013)

Quite enjoying this game for the most part. It looks amazing and is a lot of fun to slice up demons and people with the katana. My only real problem is that the level design is terribly confusing and I find myself running around trying to figure out where to go. If you can run it I would highly recommend it, although you may want to wait for a sale as it's $40.

Rise of the Triad (2013)

Another remake of a '90's FPS, although unlike with Shadow Warrior, I never actually played the original Rise of the Triad. While Shadow Warrior is more of a fine tuning of its source material while adding more modern gameplay feature, Rise of the Triad is your typical '90's FPS but with updated graphics. If you're after a throwback to older PC FPS then this is definitely a game for you and at $14.99 it's a steal.

You know, Pete, I always kinda thought you were a gaming hipster what with all your indie games. But now I see that given the sheer volume of games that you play that you must have run out of console games to play a long time ago.

Eh, my understanding of a hipster is someone who thinks they're better than other people because of their more esoteric choices in media. Where it's more about how people perceive them based on their entertainment of choice rather than just liking what they like. The AAA gaming market has changed this generation into something that I don't find particularly attractive, but I don't really begrudge people for liking what they like. If I was maybe 6 or 8 years younger and my first experience with online multiplayer was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare I would probably think that game was the shit.

Rather than bitch about how gaming has abandoned its principles or turned its back on the nerds and geeks that birthed it in favor of attempting to woo the eyes (and wallets) of the people who only buy the newest Call of Duty or Fifa/Madden game, I found a niche where the games I want is thriving. Sure I might not get the fanciest graphics but I get a more engaging experience. I mean one of my favorite games from this year is a game in which I play as a fucking border guard checking immigrants paperwork.
