http://www.musicbanter.com/media/67243-rpg-geeks-4.html Tweak the title to include pen and paper rpgs as well as card games. My friend tried to get me into YuGiOh but I just never took to it. He even recently showed me a website where you can play online and build your deck using any cards. I built my deck but I didn't have time to challenge him at that moment in time. I made a Zombie Burn Deck. Whatever that means. I have to research it a bit more.

Pokémon Colosseum is amazing. At least that's what I though at the age of about 10. It is really difficult compared to other Pokémon games though. Grinding is far harder, you have a limited selection of 'mons and most of the ones you can catch require a fair amount of battling before they become useful.

I used to be a Sims addict and would get each expansion as it was released but three expansions into Sims 3 and I stopped. I still hop into the game from time to time to mess around but not as addicted as I once was. Sims 4 is going to be released soon last I heard. I think they are finished with Sims 3 expansions after this last island vacation one.

You don't need crysis tier graphics to achieve an amazing level of immersion. My only gripe is the limited audiobank this game has in general. Characters spout the same shit over, and over, and over again, and that really tears me out of the experience. One thing I can testify, is that this game is hard as shit. I pretty much had to quit just now due to the fact that I had a more than decent armor, end game weapons, full health, and I somehow ended up getting killed by a single measly bandit with a fucking makorav. I was about to finish the dude off, but I started toying with him only to be shot in the face. It's one of those "think tactically" games, and if you fuck around out in the open you'll be dead within 2 seconds. Also, them blood suckers freak me the fuck out. |

I may have mentioned this but I got the Prince of Persia HD collection so I've been really digging those games recently. The Sands of Time was freakin awesome... Mostly really ingenious platforming puzzles which is a refreshing change from God of War type games I've been playing recently. The fighting was monotonous, though. I'm playing through the Warrior Within now and the puzzles are still great but there is more emphasis on fighting and even though it's improved over Sands, it still isn't what I wanted and I'm toward the end and it has gotten DAMN hard. Especially since I'm playing on hard.
Really fun games overall, though.

I had one of my closest friends staying over my house for the last week and in the time I was letting him play some games I wanted him to try for a while (Bayonetta, Fez and one of the Need For Speed games) but as for what I'VE been playing, we've been doing the whole co-op thang:
Castle Crashers We beat this one, it was my first time playing the game and I'm glad to say I really liked it. The fighting and magic mechanics are simple yet feel really fun to use and it's the right kind of length to be challenging, yet not overstay it's welcome. The art style is pretty silly and fun and it's not a game that takes itself too seriously. I will say though, this game is definitely better with more than one person, cause things can really pretty overwhelming when you're on your own. Unreal Tournament III We started on the co-op campaign a couple of weeks ago at my friend's house, and today we were picking up where we left off. The UT games are this FPS series that's similar to Quake in it's arena style shooting and fast paced combat. It has the usual modes you would expect from a game like this and overall it's just good fun.

The biggest thing I have against this title is that it's so short, had the campaign lasted 2-3 times as long it would be significantly better. Still, they supply the game with a full set of modding tools so I guess it won't be long until new campaigns start popping up - and to be honest, I can't wait. The game while technically somewhat obsolete is one of the most engulfing crpg experiences I've had for a while. And the combat is fun fun fun, especially if you have a decker running around teh interwebz while the rest of the team fights in the physical world, these 2 layers really compliment each other well. Overall I'd say 8/10 |
