I'm with Loathsome Pete on his view with indie games, i've also been given a lot of satisfaction by playing them. Fez, Binding of Isaac, and Thomas Was Alone are by far some of the greatest that I've played. Indie games in general have been making a humongous impact. I've heard of 10 Million recently, but haven't given it a play, however i've seen videos and it looks fantastic.

Indie games that I think are an absolute must play

The Bastion (isometric action/rpg with amazing soundtrack and narrative)

Mark of the Ninja (best stealth game of all time)

Limbo (puzzle platformer with great art design drenched in atmosphere and an ambiguous but compelling story)

Fez. (One of these days I'll give this game ago, but it's a puzzle platformer with shifting perspectives. I'm sure there's a lot to like about this, but I just haven't been compelled to buy it, not even on sale).

YESS!! There are a lot of great treasures filled in the mix of all the indie games. Limbo is one of my all time favorite games, so much atmosphere in that one and it's so simple to play yet so challenging.

A few of my favorites that Pete didn't mention:

Braid: a really cool puzzle platformer with a time reverse mechanic. Great story and visuals, can be really tough to get all the puzzle pieces but totally worth it.

Dust An Elysian Trail: A fun sidescrolling action adventure game with rpg elements. A great combat system and insane combos make it a blast to play.

DLC Quest, DLC Quest Live Freemium or Die: Really great satire games poking fun at the industry.

Shadow Complex: Great side scroller shooter, kind of like a Metroid game in a way. Kind of has a cheesy storyline but the gameplay more than makes up for it.

Shadowrun Returns

In some ways it reminds me of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, at least in the structure and writing. If you've ever been interested in playing a table top RPG but could never find a group of people to play with, this game can really make that dream come true (to a degree at least). So far it's pretty linear with a few side quests and most of the choices RPGs offer is whether or not you return something to someone, or keep it for yourself. The combat is pretty easy, so if older games like Fallout or Planescape: Torment were not your bag, this game may be more for you. That's not to say it's dumbed down, just explained better.

I wouldn't say it's completely worth your time right now though, unless you're in desperate need of a murder/mystery story in a cyberpunk setting. The story is quite well written and you can tell the writers have GM'd many games with their descriptions. In a few months there will be a lot of user content, so I'd say if you really want your $20 worth wait till then.

I'm playing Walking Dead and Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark.

I decided to pre-order those four games on PSN that's part of their PLAY promotion.

Here is a little overview that I yoinked from on their site.
Quote:

Stealth Inc is a fast-paced stealth platformer featuring brutal hazards, ruthless enemies, fiendish puzzles and red pixels galore. Jump, sneak, and be chunked through 80 levels. Will you make it out alive?

Armed with only your wits and a pair of top of the range Stealthing Goggles, it's your job to sneak your way through a deadly facility that's determined to extinguish your fragile little life. With no weapons and no armour, being seen means instant death.

Stay out of the light to avoid the attention of deadly security robots! Leap like a lusty salmon to avoid those zap-happy lasers! Think fast as the walls close in around you! And once you've defeated these deadly chambers (or they've defeated you)

Hehe, I started playing Magic shortly after its launch in the 90s and played it for a few years before I stopped. Then, a couple of years back, I tried Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and I was re-hooked. I found my old pile of cards, made some decks, even bought some new ones ..

It's great fun, both the PC games (currently playing 2014) and the real life version :) The card game is the perfect entertainment for a late afternoon at the cabin.

I recall a little bit about it. I never played but i worked in a shop that had the cards. I remember the Black lotus being a very expensive card for some reason?

Yes, Black Lotus is one of the most famous Magic cards :)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...lack_lotus.jpg

Basically, playing it in your first turn would put you way ahead of the game, so far that it would basically feel like cheating, at least to me. In game terms, it allows you to have at least four untapped land (mana) in the first round, one from your hand and three from black lotus. Normally, you can play one land (mana) each turn.

So basically, it is overpowered and rare. :)

That makes perfect sense. Why would they even put it in the deck. That doesn't even seem fair, what a grave error on their part.
