Agreed... so damn fun. I hear they are thinking of making it its own series of games. I would freaking love that.

Haven't played this in some time because I've had family staying at my house for a couple of weeks, but...

Sleeping Dogs

I haven't gotten too far into this so these are my initial impressions. I really love the environment and the cultural background of this, it really feels like I'm playing a character in a Hong-Kong police movie. Everything from the signs on the shops to the temples and landmarks present to the music on the radio has this very modern Asian aesthetic that you can tell the creators painstakingly put together. The voice acting is also pretty good and has some interesting and memorable characters.

The story(as far as I've been playing it) is about an undercover cop named Wei Shen who is sent to infiltrate the Triads and take down a number of their upper men, as well as his own personal goal of avenging his sister, who fell in with the gang and died of an overdose. They do a pretty good job of balancing what you do as a cop versus what you do for the Triads to earn their favor and rise in the ranks, and there's missions to do some surveillance on drug runners and collect evidence in order to take them down.

The fighting mechanics are similar to fighting groups of guys like in Assassin's Creed minus the more acrobatic stuff, sort of like an actual street fight. There's also this mechanic to grab an enemy and take them down using the environment that's cool too. It isn't perfect, especially if you mess up a combo and have to wait for the character animation to come back to its starting position, but when you land that crucial blow or pull off a sick combo it's immensely satisfying.

One of the better ones, try one of the best. Fixed an error message I was getting that had made it hard to play and played through the entire game in one sitting and this was easily one of the best games of 2012 and one that I wish I had played when it came out. Everything mixes together, the gameplay, the narrative, the music, the characters, and creates a completely satisfying experience. Despite the fact the characters are just rectangles, they all have personalities, flaws, and character arcs that make them seem more human than many other video game characters. I could never buy the romance between Raiden and whatshername from Metal Gear Solid 2, but in just under 4 hours I got the romance between a long rectangle named Laura and a cynical square named Christopher.

Don't let the "art game" label turn you off, this isn't something like The Path or Braid that is being convoluted for the sake of seeming deep, this is a very basic game about love, friendship, courage, and death and it absolutely belongs at the same table as other games like TellTale's The Walking Dead.

The Steam sale is going on and it's available on the PSN so I absolutely implore you to grab a copy and see the magic for yourself.

Haha hell yeah, Micheal Biehn makes it man, his one liners are the best!!!

I dug everything about the game, once I got the lazer attachment for the assault rifle I was in love The stealth felt really good in that game too, I don't think I ever got caught once doing a Garrison, or whatever they were called haha.

It was also amazing how fast he could run, you really didn't need to fast travel anywhere just book it haha.

How does this game compare to a GTA game as I've been thinking about buying it?

I don't think it's comparable to GTA more like the True Crime series. As a matter of fact. I think it used to be titled True Crime:Hong Kong at one point in time.

But isn't Sleeping Dogs part of the True Crime series anyway?
