But yeah, this is also weird in that it's a combination of a unique sort of on-rails shooting system and puzzle solving, but once you get used to the odd control scheme it's pretty good.
Easily one of my favorite games of the last console generation, just one of those truly balls-to-the-walls narratives that rarely ever gets explored in video games. I really wish I still had it for my Gamecube because I found the PS2 controls to b pretty abysmal. I really wish I could have gotten into No More Heroes though, but I just could not get the hang of the Wiimote and as such couldn't get past one of the bosses. One of these days I'll get a non-retarded controller for the Wii just so I can say I beat it. Are you excited for his new game, Killer Is Dead?

Anyhow I finally beat Bioshock Infinite and absolutely loved the ending and everything it was about. In fact the only two criticisms I have for the game are the vigors and the pretty obscene amount of violence. I'm not against violence in video games, but it was kind of disquieting killing so many people and the melee executions were particularly brutal. It was a nice touch to have Elizabeth comment on how awful they were though, but there were many times where I was pretty sickened by it. As for the vigors, well they were just kind of there because it's a Bioshock game and you have to have something similar to plasmids. The thing is though, plasmids and gene splicing were instrumental to Raptures fall, but here they just existed but nobody ever really thought to use them. I mean there were only like what, two or three enemies in total that actually used the vigors against you in combat? I'm thinking after I've shot 100 police officers in the face with a rifle, it may be time to start thinking about giving it to them, or hell why were the Vox Populi even asking for guns when they could have just used those? Minor complaints though and a great last hurrah to this winding down gaming generation and definitely one of the year's bests.

Now I'm going to start playing Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon

Oh man I know, SMB 3 is brutal. My friend and I made it legitly all the way to World 8 one day, but we got so frustrated we just had to turn it off. Too much lava haha. I really don't like the moving levels man they suck, you know when the level is constantly moving to the one side, so you get rushed to finish and end up making easy mistakes cuase of the pressure. I remember one of those in particular in World 8 that was a real pain.

The save issue has been a prob for awhile, I know the cartridge is supremely fudged up but it may also have something to do with my SNES too, since I've had it since I was like 5 (I'm 23) its definitely seen better days haha

These games are so ageless, I'll be playing em forever, they just never get old! :3

Right? Donut Plains is world 2. Vanilla Dome is the third (caved) area. That's pretty far, especially if you're getting all the exits. Usually if I'm doing a 96-exit run I take care of Star World and the Special Zone around the time I'm doing Donut plains because I'd rather just be done with them now instead of dealing with them later

Yeah these games are timeless. I'm almost 25 and I've had my snes since I was 9, and my 64 since I was 10 or 11..and still play them more than any other game. Some of the games like Mario World I've beaten countless times. You're right man these games really are timeless..that's why they've held up so well, after 20 and in some cases almost thirty years

Gameplay-wise probably Guns of the Patriots. Sneaking was never so satisfying. Story-wise probably Sons of Liberty, even though I had to get over the initial shock of not playing as Solid Snake. Some of the twists in that game are total mind ****s... plus I love how Snake's cover name was Iroquois Plisken, which was an homage to Escape from New York (one of my favorite movies).

The first game I played in the series was Metal Gear Solid just after it first came out and it was probably the best action game I'd ever played up to that point and I remember the fanfare that surrounded the game and series just after that and then the long wait for "Sons of Liberty" about three years later. When that game came out it was certainly spectacular and had all the trappings of a classic, my only negative aspect on the game was the overly complex story line which then came to plague the series. Snake Eater is now my personal favourite as it returned the series to a more basic approach and the qualities that were seen on MGS. Guns of the Patriots was my least favourite due to the heavy cinema type sequences but am looking forward to playing it again. Peacewalker I know nothing about and plan to keep it like that until playing it.

Yer Snake from MGS was certainly modelled on Snake Plissken from Escape from New York (also a favourite of mine) but I always felt with the voice of Clint Eastwood more than Kurt Russell.

I'm having a hard time with Project Zone X. It didn't come with a manual and the digital one doesn't help at all what so ever.

After a battle sequence, I think that I did so well and defeated the opponent but on the next fucking screen the Game Over display pops up like wtf.

Yeah, I can understand the gripes if you don't like the long cutscenes and complicated story... But like I said, I actually like that stuff. Even the original MGS had a lot of dialogue... There probably would have been more if Hideo could have fit them on the discs (after all... It was 2 discs for an 8 hour game). Still, even if you didn't like that I think the gameplay mechanics for Guns of the Patriots are the best... The octocamo thing was genius and made the whole thing very smooth.

There's still plenty of story in Peace Walker, but I think you'll probably like it because its toned down a lot (but again... Probably just because Hideo couldn't fit anymore onto a PSP disc). My only complaint about that one is the missions got a bit repetitive. You definitely need to play it before 5 comes out, though... It sets up a great deal.

I know i'm a bit late to this: But i LOVE the MGS series. The original for the PSX is one of my favorite games of all time. So revolutionary and ahead of its time. I still play it to this day, and can recite a lot of the dialogue from memory. Also James Flinders/Cam Clarke's voice is so sexy.

I've also played 2 and 3. Of those two, I really appreciated 3 for the direction they took the gameplay, and the complex story, that tied in really well with history. Even if some of the bosses were a bit over the top cartoonish, I still loved some of them, like the Sorrow and the Boss. In fact, while MGS1 may be my favorite. 3 has my favorite ending. If I watch that ending, more likely than not I'll cry.

"Snake, history will ever know what she did. No one will ever learn the truth. Her story... her debriefing, will endure only in your heart [...]She was a true patriot"

So powerful.

ps I tried to hide that with spoiler tags but idk how, cause i'm still a n00b. So i cut it down, a bit, trying to take out spoilery things

I never had a Ps3 so I haven't played 4 yet unfortunately. I'm such a sucky MGS fan haha :[
