I sorta hated 2033, but Last Light was great. If you haven't tried it, you should. It's definitely not as hard as 2033, but it's put together well. Don't worry about the ranger mode thing. Just play on the highest difficulty. It's hard enough.

Metro 2033 is a hard game to feel anything other than "well that was okay" when you're done playing it. It's not really that broken (unless you're playing a console version) but trying to stealth your way through a level was pretty hard. I got the game by liking THQ on Facebook back in late 2012 just as they were filing for bankruptcy so I can't complain too much, but I am definitely looking forward to Metro: Last Light, although I'm definitely waiting for the summer sale to pick it up. |

borderlands 2
its pretty cool, still feel it's overrated. Pretty hollow shooting game play if you take away the superficial rpg elements, which can be said about a lot of modern shooters, difference is a lot of them did it first, years ago. Then again i've only gotten to play with friends for a short duration which seems to be the biggest pull. Graphics are very nice. Excited for last of us in less than 2 weeks though i'm worried naughty dogs is becoming a little too into themselves; focusing more and more on glorified cinematics rather than crafting fun gameplay. |

Far Cry 3
-I been playing the **** ton out of this game it's insanely fun to play and just plain awesome. The island is really beautiful to look at and explore. There's a lot of attention to detail so it's easy to get immersed in this games world. -I love how dynamic the combat can be, there's a lot of options on how to go about combat scenarios as well as taking out your enemies. -The story is also really pulling me in, it's very cinematic so far. There have been a lot of really cool and trippy story sequences that blew my mind already. I'm just about to the second island, can't wait to see were it goes from here.

I hate how Borderlands seems to erase your progress through it. After fighting through an area, mobs just respawn again so you have to do it all over again next time you're around. You do "quests" for NPCs, but it's so obvious they're only there to keep you moving. Nothing is serious. That's not very RPGy, but feels very hollow/superficial to me. Playing it feels a little meaningless. Other than the joy of shooting at stuff and a setting that interests me for a short while, there's very little about it that I find intriguing in the long run. Bioshock Infinite however ..

So sometimes I randomly get in the mood for a good fighting game. I occasionally get bored with how easy most games become when you play them enough and fighting games can really test your hand eye coordination. I got the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for both nostalgia and the fact that Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 always kicked my ass when I was younger. I've been pretty confident recently in my video game abilities so I practiced a bit against the computer and headed online. I got my ASS. BEAT. Seriously...people are too good at this game.
I've never been so determined for a fighting game. I usually play a bit, get bored, and move on to a game with story. But now it's on. I've been practicing my Liu Kang and for the first time I'm nailing combos and working my way up the Master 2 tier without too many continues. Soon, I will return to the ranked matches...

I own both Borderlands games and they both disappointed me. The premise is great, a skill based shooter with random drops, what can go wrong ? A love child of diablo and CoD would be awesome .... in theory. The shooting is not as satisfying as I was hoping it would be (though it turned me into a fan of revolvers in games), the story while often quite funny is presented in such a way you don't really get involved emotionally. 1st part was tragic, 2nd one is a lot better but still suffers from the same problem -the farther you are the less engulfing it is.
What I'm currently playing - I got Planescape: Torment on gog.com. I remember saving for 2 months or so back when it came out initially to buy it, I got the collectors edition with a mouse pad and a t-shirt, it was amazing back then. And now .... once you mod it so it supports some sensible screen resolutions it's almost just as good! The story is still great, characters unique, everything that made the original stand out is still there and is doing fine. The interface didn't age as well, but it's still playable and only annoying occasionally. Something I'm not yet playing but probably will: a modder has been, for the last 7 years, re creating Baldur's gate along with the add on to run on the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. It's finally complete and can be found here, I can't wait to try it out. |
