Funny you mention sale. Just bought Dishonored for half price even though I'm still in the middle of Skyrim. I'm really excited to play it though. Looks sick.

Agreed. I'm in the minority that likes it more than the original. I'm on my 3rd playthrough and have not even finished it. I keep stopping towards the end & restarting to withhold the pleasure.

Well I decided on plowing through The Darkness II for this weekend, but apparently the developers wanted me to do something other than sit in front of my computer and made the game incredibly short. My play time on the medium difficulty setting only came in at 4 hours, but I got the game on sale for less than $10 so I can't really begrudge it too much. Actually it was pretty competently put together, with nice breaks in the action to create proper pacing and some pretty well put together set pieces. The actual Darkness powers themselves were a lot of fun, although it's a game that's definitely better played with a controller to truly use the Darkness powers effectively. Great game to play through if you're looking for a compelling narrative and some fun FPS action that's just different enough from the usual FPS'. Definitely pick it up on sale though as the single player story is pretty short, and while there's a side co-op campaign that happens at the same time as the single player story, but as the narrative is a very personal one, it kind of undermines the effect of the story.

This is something about games I've been thinking about recently... What is too short? I'm ok with most action games clocking in at about 8 hours, especially if it was fun enough to replay on higher difficulties. Then again you have some RPGs with great stories and over 40 hours of play time.

Honestly, I think the only time I've been really disappointed was with the original Devil May Cry... talk about a short game. It was still fun as hell though. There are some games where they are short but they are crap so I'm glad they are over soon. I finished Devil May Cry 2 in about 3 hours but it really blew so I wasn't too upset about it.

fallout new vegas:ultimate edition

I've done all the quests i can possibly do in new vegas (some of them incomplete because of glitches) so i decided to trade it and some other games in to get the ultimate edition with the dlc packs so i wouldn't have to pay 40$ to download them in their entirety.

I got 21 dollars something in store credit and the cost of the game was 22 dollars which meant involved having to do a second trip so i could go home and collect quarters scattered about the crib which was kinda tedious. I'm sure gamestop has a set trade in value that is an aggregate of their stock of the game, the current price, and how well its selling etc,but i yearn for a simpler time when the guy behind the counter could simply be like "it's fine ill give you an extra dollar for it"

The dlc is great, and so far seems more enticing than the standard quests. Right now one of my guns is a dog/robot hybrid thing with adorable puppy ears and it's brain encased in a jar. The writing is really solid as well, and surprisingly it added some new animated cutscenes which i appreciated.

Have you played Dead Money yet? Your opinion on the DLC might change quite a bit once you slog through that nightmare. Also whatever you do leave Lonesome Road for the very end. You'll want every bit of experience and high end equipment you can find before even attempting that one, trust me.

I've only played "old world blues" as of yet, but i find it hilarious and very good. I'll take your advice on lonesome road, thanks. I am looking forward to a little more exposition on my main character so hopefully that one isn't too much of a grind.

I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if dead money isn't that great, i honestly just want an excuse to play more fallout. I figure if i hit that level 50 cap my character will pretty much be maxed out in everything which would be cool albeit pointless. I already maxed repair, speech, guns and energy weapons, lockpick and some other stuff.

Did you ever play mothership zeta on fallout 3? That was probably the most tedious bit of fallout i've experienced so far so hopefully dead money isn't that bad

mothership zeta wasn't too bad, I always left it until the end though because the guns and caps you could make from selling them made the rest of the game too easy if you did it early on.
The Pitt was the DLC in Fallout 3 that I found most tedious. Especially collecting those damn ingots in the steel yard.
Point Lookout was fantastic though.

I generally try not to judge games by their length, unless they go on for too long like Resident Evil 4. I was quite entertained by both the gameplay and story of The Darkness II, but I definitely would have felt a little cheated if I had bought it on launch day, because a 4 hour campaign is not worth $60 unless it's Call of Duty in which case you know the multiplayer portion will be continually supported and populated.
