There was another good aliens game on pc waay back but its not coming to mind

Its surprising honestly the reviews were poor but its a very solid shooter. I've been enjoying it and recommend it at least as a rental.

The most common complaint I've seen lauded towards that game is that the final product is a much more stripped down version of what was presented at E3

Honestly I'm not that surprised, this game was stuck in development hell for 6 years, switching developers, before it finally landed in the laps of Gearbox. Honestly I can't say one thing or the other as I've never played this game and had no intention or interest before the game came out, but I can't say this is going to do Gearbox any good, especially after Duke Nukem Forever, another game that was stuck in development hell for years that was finally released to mediocre to poor reviews.

I usually just follow my own instinct with games. For the most part the critics/reviewers are spot on but there are times when I have bought something that was picked apart and its turned out just fine. Duke Nukem is a great example of something that shouldn't have seen the light of day. I don't feel that way about the aliens game, i've bought three in total and this is the only version i've ever enjoyed playing. I wouldn;t say there is anything unique about it, but it holds up pretty well and for aliens fans, there is alot of stuff thrown in that is cool.

Fair enough, I mean if you enjoy the game that's all that matters. As I said before, I have zero interest in this game and really the Alien franchise outside of the first two movies so I wasn't going to get this game anyways, but I do lurk on a few video game forums and this has been the game of the moment lately. That seems to be the state of the video game culture these days, going from one controversy to the next, I'm sure next week everyone will be ranting about whether or not the new Laura Croft is sexist or not.

Oh yeah i've never been one that had to have the game everyone else was playing to be cool. Its a great game. The new Lara Croft doesn't really look all that great honestly.

I'm hoping by this point they've learned that fetishising her weak young body being penetrated by long pointy-ended objects wielded by men that then proceed to grope her isn't a particularly good idea. I really do hope they don't mess it up. Lara Croft actually being transformed into a strong female character in a game that's actually fun to to play? That would be a victory for me on so many levels.

It's a game for sexually frustrated nerd boys, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah the brutalization of Lara in that trailer from last year's E3 was pretty intense and I'm a little ashamed to admit that it did hit my "chivalrous" side that made me want to protect her. Despite that, I have to say I was always impressed by how she always got up and trudged on regardless of the situation. In fact, from what I've read so far, she does stand up as a good image of a strong woman in video gaming with the only incongruous behavior being her apparent ease into the killing of humans despite apologizing for killing a deer. Regardless I think this game is going to be a win both for fun and engaging gameplay, and another strong female character.

this was the same issue with nathan drake and the uncharted franchise. In terms of the narrative the combat simply does not fit the protagonists morals.

Its whatever though at the end of the day im more concerned with fun/shooting people than lara crofts portrayal.
