Looks like more of the same, but considering survival-horror as a genre really doesn't exist in the AAA market anymore, I'll take what I can get.

Dead Space 3 is coming out and there's probably a Left 4 Dead 3 coming some day as well. At higher difficulties, I think the earlier titles in those series at least are worthy of the survival horror label.

Everyone was so excited about Amnesia, but having played it through, I was actually more impressed with its predecessor, Penumbra, but that game hardly generated any buzz at all that I picked up on. I thought it had a more interesting story and more Cthulhuesqueness. Still looking forward to Machine for Pigs of course!

Just got to the end of Amnesia. What a fantastic ending, much different than what I was expecting, but now i'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Spoiler for for ending:
I got the sacrifice ending, since I was informed there is more than one ending.

I finally finished RE5. Took me that long to pick up the game after a year of owning it. I couldn't believe what they decided to do with the main antagonist in the end.

RE4 is better though. But RE5 had more of a variety of monsters.

Back to GTA 4 now.

Just so you know Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs isn't a direct sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but rather an unconnected story set in the same universe. There is a sequel in the works though, that may be set in China.

Currently playing Skyrim, more than a year after everyone else. :D It's pretty damn great. I play as a mage, something I usually don't in the Elder Scrolls series, and it's fun! And I can't believe the neverending amount of quests and places to visit, not to mention how awesome the region of Skyrim is in general. :)

As for game of the year 2012...sorry, I've barely played anything from last year, just The Secret World and Guild Wars 2, and neither kept me playing for long, even if they don't suck.

^I started playing Skyrim a few days after winter break started. It's astoundingly easy to throw eight hours of your life away every day after you start. I don't think I started a main quest until I had well over 100 hours under my belt.

I know, the amount of things you can do is almost overwhelming. I've done a few main quests already, but inbetween each one I probably do 10-20 others, haha. Right now I've started concentrating on the Mage University (or College, or whatever) quests.

I think that was the only one I completed. Good luck with Mzulft, it's tough as a mage imo.
