I'm hooked on Far cry 3. The plot is a lot better than I thought it would be, characters are memorable. The island is quite big and there are tons of things to find, so if you like exploring and not only shooting bad guys in the face, you'll like it to. Oh, and shooting bad guys in the face is actually the most fun I've had in a single player fps game for a while. Eliminating a whole outpost with a silenced sniper rifle and a knife is rewarding, blowing up reinforcements after you failed being stealthy with a grenade launcher is fun too. The only problem I have with the game is that finishing all the sidequests when they appear and abandoning the main quest line to explore, it made me so much xp I have a ton of skill points but nothing to spend them on - the vast majority of the 53 skills you can learn are unlocked by completing missions...

Also, it really has a therapeutic effect, this vacation paradise setting. Especially when I look out of the window and see the depressing dirty snow less winter outside..

I can't decide if I'm torturing myself or just setting reasonable goals, but I'm playing every Final Fantasy from 7-12 in order.

I've been working on this since October and am only on Disc 2 of FFVIII. It takes soooo much time to do things properly. Hahaha. Last time I played FFVIII (Age. 13) I had no patience. I think I finished it in like 2 weeks, as fast as possible.

With the exception of FFIX, I have played all of these games before, actually, but the only one I spent extra time on really was FFX. I'm trying to put in a little extra effort and get the most out of all of them, and yeah...it's a tough road. I really just want to play Spyro or GTA some days, but I'm...just....too...determined...

I had just about unlocked every skill by the time I made it to the second island and I've only done a fraction of the sidequests. They don't seem to have any purpose other than xp grinding and I've tweaked my Brody to be a long-range/stealth character. I think that was done deliberately though, with the first island letting you create this badass character to your specifications and then the second island is just a big playground that lets you be a badass.

I bought The Witchers Uno and Dos but they seem to have some kind of problem with my Processor and the two aren't playing nicely. Nevermind, I still have Borderlands 2 to kill a few dozen hours with.

The Walking Dead Episode 5: Out of Time

I'm not afraid to admit it, but I cried like a baby by the end. I honestly thought Spec Ops: The Line was the be-all-end-all for video games making me depressed, but the folks over at TellTale Games have really outdone themselves and found new boundaries of what this kind of interactive media is capable of. The fact that the Walking Dead games are getting a lot of accolades makes me incredibly happy and now I can't wait for the second season to come out and hope the sales are good because I don't want to see this series fail, or other games that attempt to put this kind of effort into the story and emotional aspects of their games.

yeah i was off about far cry. For some reason the repeated mechanics actually get funner as the game goes on. It's interesting seeing video games legitimately rival action films in terms of dialogue and set pieces.

Ubisoft really took the assassins creed approach with the 3rd entry. More money then you know what to spend it on, ridiculous amount of obtainable loot, scaling towers to reveal new locations, just an overall streamlining that fortunately doesn't become completely mind numbing.

It's crazy addictive but i still think it misses an edge. Though it does all the mechanics right, none of them feel distinctly far cry. Too much superficial reward and no real sense of accomplishment sometimes.

Sir, you just made me buy this. It seems there's not running away from the dead, now that they are walking :P plus it might fix my zombie craving untill the tv series picks up again after the winter break .. though I'm afraid that if the game is so good, I won't be able to watch the tv series if it goes back to season 2 type (boring as hell) plot. And it probably will.

As for far cry 3 - I'm almost at the end, got 2 or 3 more quests to go. Wow, what a game. It's actually sad it's not "skyrim with guns" as many folks told me as there is little to do and after you level up/buy some guns there is nothing more to grind to. Well, maybe if you're after trophies, ok.
That's why I'm postponing finishing this... I only have 25 relics so far, I think the inhabitants of the islands won't mind me taking a short, 2 or so week break from saving them to steal their relics ;)

Yeah, The Walking Dead is an absolutely fantastic gane. I'm distinctly "meh" about the show itself and I don't think the premise of the game is particularly amazing but it's the execution and writing that make it great. Clementine in particular brought out more maternal instincts in me than I ever realised I had.
