Just finished Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. The first game of the series got a ton of play when I was younger, and the sequel was enjoyable enough so I figured I'd give the most recent one a shot.

Also been playing a bit of Metal Gear Solid for Gameboy Color. A very good Gameboy game, one of the most interesting games I've seen for the system. We'll see how I feel once I finish it, though.

Some MB gaming community, what should I buy for the weekend, Torchlight II or Spec Ops: The Line? While I enjoyed the first Torchlight game I found myself becoming increasingly bored, but unable to stop playing. I stopped reading the quests and basically just did whatever I was told with little understanding. On the other hand from what I've read about Spec Ops: The Line most of your enjoyment comes from the mature story that explores the relationship between player and player-character in the guise of a Modern Military Shooter (or MMS). It's also suppose to be pretty short, which I'm not opposed to because a good story told is always fun to return to, but it is $20 more expensive than Torchlight II, although price is not a factor in this decision.

Spec Ops is really good. Don't have an opinion on Torchlight 2 but Spec Ops was very enjoyable and has good replay value.

I think I'll save Spec Ops: The Line for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, I opted to get Torchlight II because it was cheaper and I didn't have to go to a store to buy it.

First impressions are that it's very good and improves a lot of what I didn't enjoy about the first one. There's a nice variation in the environments and enemies so it never gets dull, and there's just something so satisfying about seeing them turn into puddles of blood with one swing of your sword that truly makes you feel like a badass. There's also more story now, and I'm actually finding myself reading the quest briefings, which is exceedingly rare.

Basically if you loved the changes Diablo II brought to the table from Diablo I, then you'll love Torchlight II because it's pretty much that, but with some more cartoony graphics more reminiscent of World of Warcraft. Also if you found yourself a little disappointed with Diablo III, then I think you owe it to yourself to drop the $20 on this game and play it for a weekend, or get the demo and play that because the demo is pretty long.

I did this all last night. It's not the most effective TF2 spy strategy out there, but goddamn is it hilarious.

Anyway, I bought the HD re-release of Sonic Adventure 2 last week. I have no idea how I put up with the terrible voice acting and the occasionally bad camera when I was younger, but other than those two problems, it's just as fun as it was several years ago IMO.

Oh god, yes! Make Sonic and his insipid friends stop talking. He never had to talk in the nineties, so why must he now? And why must he spew cliched anime tropes like some sort of Naruto virus?

I decided to download the Diablo III free demo thing to see how it compares to Torchlight II. While I still prefer the more cartoony and exaggerated art style of Torchlight II, I think Blizzard did a great job of keeping the artstyle true to the first two Diablos. I think I'll get a little more into the story of Diablo III because the story in Torchlight II is pretty lame, you just keep following the bad guy, always a step or two behind him. It's lifted from the first game, but we're made to feel better about it by moving out into new areas and whatnot. Mechanically both games are quite similar and that's nice so I can switch between them without accidentally screwing up for the first few minutes as I adapt. Both are worth your time, and if you've played Diablo III and want a little bit more I'd say you should get Torchlight II, but don't expect it to light your world on fire, it's only $20.
