Just bought the Command & Conquer pack on the PC which features 12 games all for just £9.

I used to love the old ones, but the new ones are definitly much better. I think I like Generals the most, they kept all the good aspects of 1 and 2 and just gave the player more options for customizing everything. One thing I wish they would improve however is troop movemnt. It is still hard to make a large army gracefully move across the map. Units of different speeds should be able to slow down and travel at the same rate, instead of tanks getting to location an hour before the poor little GI's.

I've been playing this on PS2 and I really wish I had it on PC. I remember how frustrated I use to get at the platforming sections, particularly the nightmare sequences, and even the shooting controls seemed to be a pain in the ass. It's kind of sad too because I use to harbor some real nostalgia to this game in particular but the last few nights of playing have made me hate it with a passion. As much as people complain about the games of today not being as good as the games of yore, there are some changes that I honestly can't remember how we played without, chiefly regenerating health. Say what you will about it, nothing is more frustrating than being stuck in a loop where you can't get past a certain section because you have no health.

The Red Alert series was great, I still have no idea how Westwood went under. I always thought the C&C games were a great success. |
