More so than the other games in the series, I guess it's potentially endless (think it has 15 000 dungeons or so?) :p: I don't know how long it would take to finish the main storyline.

Oh my, Buggerfall. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. I remember this game being a pain when it came out but now .. it'll be like torture. Is it still completely broken and can't be completed without cheating?
If you want a classic, get Morrowind or Oblivion - both great games you can get dirt cheap and none will make you want to murder everyone like Buggerfall will. Or get the Baldurs gate saga from gog.com ;)
On topic - I'm not playing anything at the moment but I just got a text that I can pick up 2 new (well, old.. but new to me) games - Batman Arkham Asylum and Bioshock. Both, with shipping for roughly 8$. I order them online and they deliver within 2 days to a certain store I can visit on my way back from work :)

Already played both morrowind and oblivion, both classics.

Bio shock is a superb game probably my favorite fps this gen. What it lacks in combat fluidity it makes up for in story, atmosphere and characters. Just be sure to avoid Internet spoilers. I've heard great things about AA and AC as well but haven't gotten around to them yet.

Buggerfall is an apt nickname :D Anyone trying this out needs to get it patched up. Fortunately, I believe there is still a living modding community for Daggerfall, so I'm guessing there are many interesting mods/addons that you can get for it these days as well as bugfixes.

edit :

As far as I know, Daggerfall has several endings and only one of them required a cheat.

That brings back bad memories of World of Aden Thunderscape, 3 times I've played that game, sinking well over 2 months of gameplay just to be met by a bugged gate that won't open or an event that doesn't trigger and I'll have to start over again.

Haha, I've also played that game. I remember it seemed really cool in the beginning when you start by that hut where you can get your gear. Then it's straight into those awful caves, into the land of brown, grey, dark and confusing. Ugh!

yeah quite a bit of it was very bland, with the exception of the dwarven city. What kept me going was seeing what the next set of creatures looked like, some of them were very creative.

I actually started Daggerfall a little while ago after finding this out. I think it would be very hard for anyone who didn't start playing FPS games back in the early 90s to really appreciate it (you can't even look up - or if you can I haven't figured out how yet).

Just fired it up and it's a simple option in the controls under mouse .. You can set it so that you look around with the mouse :) When you then set up the typical aswd keys to move around, it moves pretty much like a regular fps.

This guy seems to have a pretty fluid up and down looking technique down.

That looks like EXACTLY where my last character died last time I tried playing hahahaha :yikes: Damn skeleton warrior haha (no... I have not played enough to get through the intro dungeon):shycouch:

Thanks for the tips, I did try reconfiguring the controls so that it moves like a more modern FPS (using WASD instead of arrows etc.) I'll definitely be looking into the mouse controls. As for the previous comments about the game being broken etc. there's are some fan made patches that supposedly address a lot of issues and implement a bunch of extra content (as if it needed more...)

Daggerfall:Files - UESPWiki for anyone interested in crazy retro gaming.
