Is it that bad? I just started playing it a bit today. Say it ain't so.

I even forked over the big bucks to get all the extra collector's edition stuff.

I was raised on AoE, but for some reason the 3rd just never clicked with me. Too modern I guess. I tend to prefer the more ancient themed strategy games.

Oops!

It's completely playable, but yeah - not very good! I've read that the PC version is a lot better than the xbox360 version too.

The levels and design has been pretty uninspired so far with a world that's often grey and lacks detail. The boss fights were boring and simple (bouncing grenades against a stationary monster is the most original fight yet), no enemies so far have been very exciting although it's fun the way the pigs jump at you .. Duke was his old self only a bit more pathetic. Compared to a title like Dead Space 2 for example, it seems horribly rushed.

Had I designed it, I would've made Duke older, given him a beard perhaps and made him a bit coarser. I would've stripped the dumbass Olsen twins lookalike girlfriends from the game and treated him as the legendary character he is. The world in Duke Nukem Forever regards Duke a hero, but what you see as the player is pretty pathetic, I think.
