4 wasn’t really scary, it was more of an action orientated game then a survival horror game. But the entire Resident Evil series falls short of scary compared to the Silent Hill series.

Silent Hill 3 was pretty good, I don’t have any complaints about it. In 4 you aren’t even in Silent Hill and it focuses more on combat, but it makes the mistake of doing that when the combat system is clunky. On other Silent Hill games the combat isn’t that great either but that’s the point, the character is not some solider or trained in combat, just a regular person trying to survive. Hence the genre name Survival Horror. Your not trying to save the world just yourself and get the hell outta there. Silent Hill 5 tried to imitate Resident Evil 4 with more focus on action and over the shoulder combat system. But being made in America you know its going to have more focus on action unlike its Japanese predecessors. And for some strange reason the makers of 5 decided to incorporate alot of elements from the **** film. The story also sucks and the ending could be seen coming from a mile away. Resident Evil 4 is a good action game but mediocre Survival Horror game, there were few times when I was actually scared. It also decided to drop the entire story all the other RE games have, which makes me say WTF? Why even call it a RE game if the only thing it has to do with the other games is a couple of characters, why not just call it The Adventures of Leon from RE2? Also has anyone played the RE demo? My god it looks like the just copied and pasted RE4 with different character and settings.
Also Loose I'd have to say Silent Hill Origins is 1000 times worst than 4

Yeh it is sadly. It's a prequel to one that’s about what happened to the town. Its the only other Silent Hill game (the other being 5) to be made in America. Its strange because in all the other games the main character is somehow connected to the town where as the main character in Origins is just there. Like he was just driving by and ended up at the wrong place.

Resident Evil 4 may not be full flat out scares, but its atmosphere and setting are way scarier then any of the others.
So they got rid of wesker and all that T-Virus bull****? Good! that **** made my head hurt. I'm glad they replaced boring hallways with 20 second loading times in favor of villages outdoor environments. Resident Evil 5 is gonna be amazing. |
