as odd as this sounds. try loading a save just before that cutscene and drop ALL options to minimum, both graphics and audio. i've seen more than a few WTF bugs directly related to sound in the past where the error message offered no indication to the issue. once you're past that scene save again and bump up the settings again.

it's lame but it should get you through.

I actually kind of tried that, even though I wasn't too thorough regarding the audio and such.

It didn't work, but later on I gave it another go and it didn't crash.

Finished the game, heh.

whatever works haha congrats on getting the win.

i was recently playing through Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2. gotta love having to abandon the game at the final boss fight (the 4 on 1 that happens once you beat the 1 on 1) because the only way to defeat the final challenge according to every single walkthrough on the net is to use an exploit.

The playing field is an isometric view landscape with towns and various industries like farms and factories. You make money by taking care of transport and thus supply and demand. For example you build airports and send planes between the cities and make money from travelers or you build an oil tanker to bring oil from an oil rig to a refinery or build a train to bring coal from a mine to a powerplant.

What I like about it a bit hard to say though :p: I think it basically boils down to a little feeling of happiness when I see my trains tooting along, making me money. Building my transport empire is satisfying in itself even if I've bought up all my competitors and technically have complete monopoly.

Transport Tycoon was cool! I haven't played it in years though. I was quite biased towards the temperate climate... trying to play the toyland maps drove me insane :D

One of my mates just bought me Gothic II and III on Steam so I think I'll be playing that over the hols. But before that, I'm going through and playing some of the Heroes TSOD campaigns I never finished.

That must be bloody frustrating.
And you just reminded me I have Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Hehe.

i've had worse haha

my real question now though, where The Phantom Menace was a piss poor film, does this mean the video game adaptation is actually decent?

Well...I just saw it's poorly rated; and it really isn't something magnificent, no.

But heh, you know the things nostalgia can do...right?

mr dave 06-29-2010 05:17 PM

hahah yeah, games based on movies are NEVER well rated, same as movies based on games. there are very rare exceptions (the original Mortal Kombat movie, and the Dune games) but that's about it. for the most part they're horrible tie-ins from either direction.

I thought Silent Hill was actually a pretty decent game-to-movie accomplishment. The acting sucked, but other than that, it was surprisingly well matched.

Digimon Racing

It's not a terrible game, but is nothing compared to Crash Team Racing (wish I knew were to find that, for an emulator).

Digimon racing was okay, but this game...

...was freakin' awesome.

i heard the opposite from most people but i didn't play the games enough either. i also thoroughly enjoyed the Resident Evil movies, but then again having Milla Jovovich running around in less and less clothes for 90 minutes is about the greatest recipe for awesome i've ever read.
