yeah it's old school / pre 3d models, but whatever, it's still a giant 4 legged mechanical spider thing that feeds from the brain of the body hanging from it's center with 2 big mounted machine guns or laser cannons on the central core.
too bad they made the background black though, i seem to recall the body having legs.

Oh yeah, that is pretty awesome! The old FPS games did indeed have some fine monsters. The gritty, gory demons from Doom were pretty awesome. For example the brain spiders or those large fleshy ones that had a minigun arm.
One thing which spooked me as a kid and early gamer was the game It Came From the Desert II : Antheads in which humans mutate into these antlike creatures. In the game, you're investigating strange events and so you talk to people when suddenly they start saying weird things about their desire to eat human flesh and then that music comes and ARGH they start sprouting tentacles and ****!

Scared me more than the big daddies did. What the big daddies lack for in nastyness (though they are a bit nasty), I think they make up for in depth and atmosphere. You can hear their sorrowful moans and possibly the voice of the little sister he protects before you see them. They're brililantly done :)
