I think the overall impression of thunderscape that I got was brown :p: Steampunk? Possibly .. I got lost after a while inside some giant mountain halls and I just couldn't be arsed anymore. Interesting game, but quite flawed.
An interesting RPG/Action/Adventure game that I have finished and which I did like quite a lot despite some flaws was Veil of Darkness. :) It's horror themed and in quite a different style from anything else we've discussed up until now, but for people looking for good old titles, that one might be interesting! You play a pilot who becomes stranded in the most gothic valley you could imagine. It has bansheeS, a werewolf, witches, talking corpses, a mysterious ferryman and of course a vampire. Check out it's wikipedia article if interested.
Other than that, I too can vouch for the baldurs gate games. They're excellent and Planescape: Torment was also good. Going back in time some, I also quite liked the first Lands of Lore. It was a bit like Eye of the Beholder, but instead of being mainly in one dungeon complex, it felt more like you were moving around in a world with cities and forests. This was not the first game in that style to do that, probably, but it was the first I played and one that I've actually completed - a couple of times, I think.
