Scorched Earth is brilliant .. As is the highly evolved Worms Armageddon, one of the few hot seat games I still play with friends!

I concur, having tried that mission over and over myself, I realized the key was to machine gun them to hell. However, I doubt you'll get very far in the future unless you practice practice practice your chopper skills.

Got this game about 3 years ago, but I've barely played it until today. It's certainly fun, and I quite enjoy the atmosphere of Rapture and the creepiness of everything around you. It's kind of a surreal world, and that's what sets it apart from other -boring- shooters. |

anyone try Command and Conquer 4 yet? i just got through the first 3 tutorial missions so far and will only start collecting mission XP after i play again. it's a different beast than the previous iterations of the game but i'm liking it so far, definitely not just more of the same. although it almost seems like they went TOO far back in setting up this one and have a bit of a Dune slant to the story (far more so than the previous titles) or maybe that's because i was recently busting through Dune 2000. they also got rid of the Hell March and the rest of the classic crunchy soundtrack and replaced it with neo-classical ambient stuff. |

^Ah, I've spent so many hours playing Heroes of Might & Magic 2 hot seat .. Another brilliant classic! Heroes of Might & Magic V was fun in very much the same way except then we could play it from the couch on the HD TV while enjoying pizza and fizzy drinks. Great fun!
Command & conquer 4 is something I didn't know about until now .. But the third (tiberium wars) was pretty darn enjoyable, actually much more fun than the latest red alert. At least the single player campaign! Definetly gonna get my hands on number 4!

^ i actually REALLY disliked HOMM5. i found the single player campaign to be damn near impossible. i think i liked part 3 best from that series.
i also agree with C&C3 being better than the last RA game. not quite sure what they were thinking with that series but it got a little too ridiculous for its own good to me. the first RA was ace though. can't really think of anything in the C&C legacy that really compares to part 4 though but i'm still quite early in the game. i figure it's either going to ease its way into familiarity or prove to be a completely new and unique beast within the next few missions i play. the biggest change seems to be NOT having to harvest Tiberium and a dynamic and mobile base system. you have the option of 3 types of command vehicles (offense, defense, support), each has unique production capabilities (both units and buildings with very few common units), you can also destroy a command vehicle then have another one deployed from orbit (assuming this becomes controlled by the player after learning how to do it as part of scripted mission objectives in my last battle). as for Tiberium there are control points on the map that increase you total unit and building caps after you've established control over them. |

Heroes III is seriously one of the best games ever... it's about 8 years since I first played it and I'm still not bored of it. I've had some great Heroes II/III hotseat sessions. I've always been biased towards the spellcasting characters because Town Portal is pretty much essential for large maps. I never really got into IV/V.
Have you guys played the Might & Magic RPG series which was an offshoot of Heroes? MMVII and VIII were sick games (especially the first). Both feature the minigame Arcomage which in itself is fun. I never completed them when I first played so I went back to them last year and finished both. C&C3 was good too - I've played through the GDI and Nod campaigns but never got around to doing Scrin. I get a bit annoyed with multiplayer though because it's hard to tweak it just right so that you can get a game which is consistently difficult throughout its duration. Either, it's far too easy, far too hard or it's a challenge for a little while after which you can steamroll your opponents. I didn't really like the sound of the radical changes made in C&C4 but I've yet to play it, so perhaps I'm in for a pleasant surprise? Btw, if you any of you want to laugh at the archaic graphics of MM7, here are some vids. Only the second one has any combat.

I liked Homm5 .. I thought if felt a bit like a return to homm2 which is my favourite of the bunch. You're right that the single player campaign is too hard though, but hot seating with friends was still awesome. At least we had a lot of fun with it!
The RPG series is something I have tried back in the 90s. I can't remember which I played, though. It had graphics roughly like what you see in one of those vids, though, so it may have been one of them. I was quite impressed when I played it, I remember. RPGs where you could wander around freely always impressed me although I didn't finish too many of then, like Might & Magic, Daggerfall, Thunderscape and Ravenloft: Stradh's Possession .. In the end I think, although I liked the games, they were ofte a little confusing perhaps. Thunderscape f.ex had some areas that were pretty tricky to find your way out of, like some caves you have to navigate through early in the game.
