I'm waiting for a half.com refund to come in so I can afford to go buy that game but that is the game I will be playing very shortly.

It's pretty awesome. Very slow and boring at parts, takes a while to get into. If you're looking for fast paced blasting guns and GTA style **** then forget about it. If you're looking for a compelling story with great visuals and itneresting character development, this is the game for you.

I thought I had the killer pegged within the first half hour but I'm starting to think I'm wrong now.

Unfortunately I played it for seven hours straight and my ps3 just froze

I really want to play this, there seems to be a new trend now which this game started and that's games that pay homage to grindhouse movies, this game looks very authentic in that regard and I like that it has some of that trademark cheesy dialogue.

Current i am playing Mass Effect 2. Removes all the "clunk" from the first game, is a solid 3rd person shooter with RPG mechanics. Great visuals and story. Some strange visual anomalies from time to time but overall a great sequel. I'm playing through once with an imported ME1 character, then will do a regular play through with a generic ME2 build.

Already completed ME2 some days ago It was a good game. Nowhere as good as Dragon Age Origins, but I really like some of the characters from Mass Effect. Indeed they did remove the clunk from the first game which was largely refreshing. In the first, the amount of talks you needed to have with all the NPCs to raise your standing with them was quite tedious. Equipping all your NPCs and yourself was also rather tedious. In ME2, there's less talk and you don't spend time equipping your characters.

The game still suffers from having a lot of boring dialogue I think and a lot of the side-quests are ridiculously generic. If you're someplace civilized, their idea of side-missions is you basically run between NPCs that you talk to. If it's on discovered planets, you go in and shoot stuff for a few minutes until you're done.

SLIGHT SPOILAGE

Another slight thing that bothers me is that even though Mass Effect has you travelling between solar systems and visiting distant planets, there's not much of an open world feel to the game. I would love it if it did. And the ending missions are way too short .. You can spend two days of playing to improve your team and prepare for the final missions only to spend half an hour completing the game sort of. Silly.
