Transport Tycoon is indeed one of the greats.

On rare occasions, I like to listen to the soundtrack. John Broomhall made an updated version in 2014.

Some years ago, I pestered him on DMs asking him if there were plans to release it as an album. He was gracious and actually responded and seemed to appreciate my fandom. He wrote that it was coming to streaming services, but seems it's not yet on youtube music at least.

Edit:

As it is now, I think my favorite game through the ages is probably Minecraft. Some others I've greatly appreciated were Transport Tycoon Deluxe, the first two Monkey Island games, Half-life 2 and Skyrim.

I don't know maybe Jedi: Fallen Order is actually a good game but I'm in the tutorial and already kind of hate it just cause all I'm seeing is imagery from the first two trilogies. This is why so many people ****ing hate Star Wars now. It's just ****ing the corpse of our childhood for cheap nostalgia. No new ideas, just callbacks to better content.

God damn it I think I love The Hunter: Call of the Wild but it also just caused me, not to rage quit, but to become so emotionally drained after tracking a grizzly bear I'd already wounded several times for like an hour while coming no closer to it, night falls and now I have to use a head lamp to find its tracks while not using it as much as possible so as not to alert it, finally see the bear with a feeling of exultation, shoot the bear, the bear takes off running, and then when I examine the blood tracks find that it's a completely different bear. Like no I am done for today the bears have won.

But God damn the open world is beautiful to trek through. Like Skyrim x10. Hiking and tracking is almost a meditative experience. And there's multiple preserves to explore. I was just in the Yukon and it was glorious. I'm also psyched to explore the Louisiana bayou and hunt alligators and there's an African Savannah too.

After watching Hasan scream like a girl at fish in his Subnautica playthrough I had to pick it back up. I got a wicked cool base on top of the big mushroom tree in the mushroom forest and I'm bout to build another one next to the big glowing tree in the lost river as an exploration hub. I love this game.

Subnautica is indeed great. I've started over on it many times and I still get freaked out when going under water. Very few games can manage to give off a vibe that is both beautiful and terrifying. Truly a great game.

Sonic Frontiers

I'd talk about this in my journal but I'm currently doing N64 month and I wanted to talk about this. I played a few hours last night and have come to the consensus that this game is not bad. It's not amazing or groundbreaking butit's good, its fun, Sonic runs fast and controls well, most of the time. Cut scenes are a bit cheesy but nothing cringeworthy. The open world feels nice to run through despite things feeling repetitive. I dont mind repetitiveness though if the overall experience is still good. Probably the first actually good Sonic game in a long time.
