Having a blast so far, and I really appreciate Square Enix giving people the option to play with the Japanese dub. I haven't finished ending A yet, but I'm preparing for pain. I got into Automata first, so I'm extremely late to board the Yoko Taro train, but I'm hoping for a modernized Drakengard, or at least a re-release so I don't have to emulate it on my **** computer.

Jeez I'm a bit shocked by how many of my threads are still going.

Anyway a friend gave me his Switch last year and it's all I've been playing. Some of the games I've been playing lately.

Sky: Children of the Light
Celeste
Pikmin 3: Deluxe
Katamari Damacy REROLL
A Hat in Time
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Sonic Mania

I just got a $35 gift card, Stardew Valley and Undertale are two games I've had my eye on.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

My wife loves Stardew Valley. Looks like a very relaxing game if you're into that sort of thing.

And Sonic Mania is the ****.

Yeah I'm playing Stardew Valley now and I'm already hooked.

I'm already a fan of the Harvest Moon series so I knew I would take to it.

Nice! I've been meaning to try it myself for a while now. I used to have a friend when I was younger who loved Harvest Moon.

I started playing a new game recently called Frostpunk. It's a city-build survival game that's sort of like Tropico with much graver ethical choices. Child labor, public executions, spies, propaganda, etc. It's actually quite difficult. But a blast all the same.

I had a great time playing through Tropical Freeze with my brother. That was a challenge (we quit somewhere during the insane bonus levels). I wish they would make the 2.5D Marios challenging.

The Wii (3DS) one is also great if you want more of the same.

Tropical Freeze is amazing, I've made it to the final boss which I haven't beaten yet and there's still a lot of stuff to collect before I 100% it. It's easily one of the best 2D platformers to come out of a AAA studio in a very long time, it just nails absolutely everything.

The New Super Mario Bros games are good but they play it really safe, so many other games that have come out in the last decade prove just how great the 2D platforming genre can still be and the NSMB games despite being the ones that make the most bank just feel creatively stagnant compared to everything else coming out right now, they retread too much ground from previous Mario games and don't live up to the same standards of innovation as the 3D titles. Yeah being a nostalgia trip is part of the appeal but there's no reason why the new 2D Mario games shouldn't be on the same level of excellence as 3D titles like Galaxy and Odyssey and they're just not.

I think Nintendo should take a break from making 2D Mario games themselves and let a third party developer have a go at it, I've love to see Retro Studios take on Mario.

Or Nintendo could do what Sega did and let the fans do it. Mario Maker (and the hundreds of quality Super Mario World hacks out there) has proven that the fans can think more outside of the box with Mario's level design than Nintendo themselves.
