Finally playing Breath of the Wild and it's almost too much to handle

I mean I can handle it but it's off the chain

I finished ME1 and played a bit of ME2, but some new stuff is coming out so the trilogy will have to go on the backburner. ME1 is still an amazing experience start to finish, great ****ing game. The way they establish their universe so effectively and naturally is remarkable.

I do hope they do a better job with the breakable weapons in the sequel. The concept is fine but weapons and shields shouldn't be destroyed after using them like fifteen times. If they must break so quickly there ought to be a repair option. The system in Fallout would be good.

I bought BOTW and played for like 5 hours. Gotta say, didn't like, nor was I impressed. The weapons breaking is irritating as hell, the inventory management is irritating to me (moreso than other Zelda games), and the lack of unique dungeons just irks me. I prefer the Zeldas of old and I have no plans to go back to BOTW or pick up the sequel. What a snorefest. There's nothing really in BOTW that I've seen that exceeds or is better than other open-world games. I'd rather just play the Witcher 3 if that's the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Last I checked you can’t glide or climb to literally every visible landmark in Witcher 3. The game is about exploration and losing yourself in its world. Witcher 3 is about experiencing the adventures of a badass in a high fantasy setting. They’re not very comparable to me

If I can't get into Witcher 2 should I bother with Witcher 3? I found the combat tedious to learn and the writing to be bland fantasy writing that's embarassed to be TOO fantasy (try hard edginess and boobs for the sake of boobs) and was meh every time I tried putting a few hours into it.

Gliding or climbing is only a good mechanic when there's a worthwile destination to travel to. I absolutely hated the dull sailing that permeated Wind Waker, but at least when the sailing was done, I had an extremely interesting and vibrant location to explore. BOTW did not do that for me. It's filled with...nothingness. Empty terrains with sporadic enemy encounters, sporadic pointless treasures, and my weapon breaking in the interim. Almost forgot to mention - the score for the game sucks. The whole "ambiance" angle they went for literally puts me to sleep. It's nothing like the energy-filled songs that would play during MM/OOT/WW and would just encourage you to keep going. BOTW is the video game equivalent of Nyquil.

I played Witcher 2 years ago, but from what I remember, there were parts of the game that felt tedious and dull. I never really got that feeling with Witcher 3. The story is better than 2, the combat is deeper, the open-world is excellent and incredibly rich and the characters are detailed and believable enough for you to feel attached to them. I think it's at least worth a try, considering how cheaply you can have it for these days.

Yeah I keep seeing it sale for like $10 and consider getting it just to see what's up but I never do. It doesn't help that Geralt seems like a gruff cookie cutter tough guy character but with this dry sense of humor to give a sort of wink and nod to the audience that the game is actually self-aware and I'm just not enthusiastic about putting tens of hours with him.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from there. But I think his reserved stoicism is for the purpose of not taking you out of the game when you make a number of given decisions as him. If he had a personality like say...a Nathan Drake from Uncharted, then when you choose to do something evil or selfish, it just wouldn't seem realistic. But yeah, he's not really the most compelling of characters - but the rest of the characters in the game tend to make up for that, I think.

Hopefully, but for all its problems Mass Effect gave me wildly different decisions to make but at least one voice actor (Jennifer Hale) who made me care about her character. If you're gonna give me a nothing character I'm supposed to project myself onto then don't give them a voice actor like Skyrim or Dragon Age: Origins. Don't give me a ****ty character who's supposed to be in a cinematic game.
