2D Kirby and Sonic games to be released on the Wii..? Have you got a link?
As long as a game is good and worth the quite ridiculous amount of money I'll be shelling out for it I don't mind whether it's innovative or not. I have a problem with franchises simply repackaging games and lazily calling them a sequel, but that's not the case with NSMB as 4-player co-op adds a completely new dynamic to the gameplay.

Project Needlemouse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Sonic game isn't confirmed for the Wii, but I'm 100% sure it will be. Quote:
I love the graphics too, it's nothing technically outstanding but it's exactly what a next gen Mario should look like. Anyway, being a retro gamer and diehard 2D platformer fan, I'm the kinda person that actually looks forward to old franchises taking a step back. |

The Wii is perfectly suited to multiple players competing in the same household, huddled around the TV like the good old days. It's the consoles main strength and the majority of people bought it for this sole reason. With that said, I think it would be a great idea for old classic franchises to get the NSMBW treatment on the Wii to please the hardcore whilst entertaining the casual gamers. I would be much more excited for a a Four Swords style Zelda installment on the Wii than a Twilight Princess sequel. I know I'm in the minority there, but who says we can't have both?

1 - someone out there owns the intellectual property rights to the original titles. 2 - the cost of acquiring publishing rights to the original IP along with the cost of revamping the graphic assets likely surpasses the anticipated revenue of the remake by a significant margin. basically, it's not going to get made unless someone can turn a profit on it, and right now that's not an option for many. also found this out the other night, kind of interesting. in the past year there have been 362 new wii games released. talk about taking the practice of spraying poop at the wall and seeing what sticks to a whole new level... |

Well it looks like my second Shitbox 360 is officially dead so no more [Prototype] Well it's not that sad seeing as how the game wasn't really that good. Looks like there may be a PS3 under the tree this year though and if I have a little left over Christmas money I may send my 360 to get "repaired" so I can play Alan Wake. In the meantime I'm finishing up Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, well trying to, it seems there's a bug on the level I'm at where I'm suppose to fire a canon at these mages on Devil's Reef, however when I go into the scope of the canon to aim all I see is this blob. A few other people have reported this too so I'll have to see what I can do to get around this annoying little glitch that neither Bethesda or Steam warranted fixing.

not sure what happened to Bethesda, might be due to getting bought by Zenimax or something but they've started dropping the ball lately. their Game of the Year edition of Fallout3 isn't compatible with the initial shipment of Fallout3 games that were sent to Canada. screw your save game if you helped support the title during its initial release. thank god for region locks on dvds... also don't whine if the bundled DLC is glitchy, nevermind that it's the ENTIRE point of the game of the year edition. |

2D platformers have always stuck around on the handhelds. But now we have new 2D Mario, Wario, Contra, Mega Man and Castlevania games on the Wii, with 2D Sonic, Kirby and Metroid games coming up. Old franchises like Adventure Island and Bonk are making a comeback on Wii-Ware, PS Network and Xbox Live Arcade is getting a new Rocket Knight game. And we've seen ancient franchises like Punch Out and Bionic Commando return from the grave. There's even a new Boy and his Blob for the Wii, can you f*cking believe that? 2D platforming is making a huge comeback. |

and it's not like Capcom has done anything besides rehash their IP since about 1991. Majesco owns A Boy and His Blob and can't turn a profit regardless of how awesome its games are so it's not really a stretch for them to redo what sold marginally well, gained a cult following, and doesn't really need to be rebuilt from the ground up, just repainted. |

Has anyone else here played Osmos? I think it's kind of an amusing game, however I wouldn't suggest paying the ten bucks for it, I just got it on sale for $2.
Also, I heard good things about the ambient soundtrack, but it doesn't seem all that cool to me. Just kind of a super ambient version of Sigur Ros- (), slowed down, without the singing, and really echoey. |
