No, just got the basic game.

It's the sort of game I can read about for ages, if ya know what I mean. I enjoy going through games that others have played and reported (if done well)

that's cool.

the Civ series is one of those that i pick up for about a week at a time 3-4 times a year. the original expansions Warlords, and Beyond the Sword are also really good if you can get your hands on them.

do not EVER load up this game if you're thinking along the lines of 'i'll only play for X time then go to bed'

I loved Civ II, Civ III was cool, but didn't get into that as much. CIV IV is a greatly advanced step up.

yeah i didn't dig on Civ3 much at all. i kept going back to part 2 for my fix until i tried the 4th for the first time.

I'm pretty sure that game is a bit older than that.

I assume you're talking about New Super Mario Bros Wii (name just rolls right off the tongue doesn't it?) and yeah that game looks awesome, it's my most anticipated Wii game of the year.

^ Me too, cannot wait to get my hands on that game.

I can't see how if you liked CIV2, you can't like CIV3. The gameplay is essentially the same, but the presentation is a hell of a lot nicer. Sure, the leap from CIV2 to 3 wasn't as big as the leap from CIV3 to 4, but I think it's a damn good game. It may be the most addictive game I have ever played.

I have CIV4 by the way, but I played it once and never really got into it. Maybe I should revisit sometime, huh?

I pretty much had the exact same experience actually. Never played Civ 2 but my dad had Civ 3 and I got addicted for a long while. Then Civ 4 came out and I was really excited and got it but it didn't really stick, so I went back to playing Civ 3.

However a couple months ago I tried out Civ 4 and I'll say I liked it a lot more. Now I think I'm starting to like it more than Civ 3 so I would say yes, definitely give it another try.

this is exactly why.

graphics and presentation don't matter as much for me, especially not when it's a turn based game.

where it was essentially the same game, the fact that Civ2 ran about a billion times faster made it the clear winner for me hehe

quite frankly i still think Civ2 looks good. it's one of those 'classic' games that Microsoft should actually try to license so they can pack it into Windows instead of another crappy card game. how awesome would that be?

There were a few things in Civ 3 that were annoying eg pollution etc, that just got in the way of enjoying the game. Luckily, Civ is one of those games that listens to the players and has them fully involved in development, so in the next version it feels a lot more refined.
