Oh **** I missed you. And GTA IV does not have the best story it just has the most self-consciously mature story that is consequently boring and forgettable. GTA 5 has a better story with better characters if you ignore Franklin.

^Trevor and Michael make GTA V what it is. Hell, Trevor does it on his own tbh.

I thought V had a more forgettable story, in fact I can't really remember what the story is. Something about having to raise a bunch of money for the FBI by performing a bunch of heists or something? And I ****ing love 5, everything else about that game is far superior to IV. I agree that Michael and Trevor are awesome characters with awesome chemistry. Franklin doesn't gel at all with them and basically serves to bring the ghetto element into the story as a throwback to San Andreas.

This is reminding me that I need to go back and replay the story mode of 5

Replaying IV, I think Niko is a great character too. He complains a bit more than those guys, but his situation is also depicted as a bit more 'real' so his gripes feel more understandable. He's also got the perfect dry wit to react to the absurd world that he exists in.

****. Yes. Trevor is ten times as much as any character from any GTA game, but Michael still gives him a run for his money for feeling like a real person. But having three characters to take the pressure off one single character to be a likeable villain let Trevor be as awful a person as possible. Stomping that biker to death after ****ing his tweaker girlfriend and playing nice with him was probably the most ****ed up moment in all of GTA. Except for a few more Trevor moments.

Oh I love Niko. Plus the whole "wanna go bowling?" meme is fantastic. I should replay IV but I didn't like it that much when I played it.

Agreed. I always love Trevors sincere moment be it few, because it was a softer side to him and the contrast to his usual self was amazing

I don't really remember any of the GTA games having stories that gelled as a whole tbh. I certainly don't remember what the hell IV was about. 5 was about Franklin getting heavier into crime, Michael getting back into crime while also being conflicted on how it affected his life, while Trevor wanted nothing more to be the crimiest. The actual story structure wasn't all that memorable, but the narratives of the characters' stories were very memorable which is far more than I can say for many GTA games.

Yeah plot has never been a strong point in the series, maybe that's why I felt like IV stood out a bit more. Just in taking itself 'too seriously' as some would put it, it did add more weight to the story then the other GTAs.

I actually think Niko and Michael are pretty similar characters in regards to their pasts, their desire to get out of crime, their frustrations with the people around them, and their **** it all attitude.

Did you change usernames?

The Batlord. But I see Michael as an alternate reality end result of the guy from Vice City. And I don't think adding more weight really helped IV. I wanted to do crazy GTA things and IV just didn't do that for me, which is why I jumped ship and became an ardent Saints Row dick sucker. My disappointment with GTA IV and subsequent love of SR2 can not be understated.
