I've only played this for like 4 hours so far, can't really say how good the plot will be (though so far, it ranges from ok to awesome)..
but it's everything I wanted from an isometric epic rpg with an active pause.. I've a feeling that finally, after so many years, we really have a proper successor to Baldurs Gate 2.
The game picks up where the previous part ends, but instead of a happy ever after, **** gets destroyed and you die, only to be brought back, level 1, with a new mission from the gods. I won't spoil anything, but the biggest change is the fact, that you no longer have a fortress to rule - you have a ship to captain. This includes recruiting, training and feeding the crew, repairing and upgrading your ship and .. naval combat.
Unfortunately I lost my Pillars 1 save, but there's an amazing in game option to create a "state of the world" file by answering questions (a lot, like 80 or so) about your decisions in the previous game. A lot of those things have a big impact on the plot of the sequel, or so I'm told. So far I only saw it several times.
Generally, so far I'm hypnotized and in love with this.
I posted this like 3 pages ago and no one acknowledged it. Haven't picked it up yet.. Looking forward to it.

I picked Diablo 3 back up and since I'm not an autistic Godzilla I'm having a lot of fun playing a game because the gameplay is entertaining. Maybe in a couple hundred hours I'll let the math werewolf take over and become disenchanted with its inferior numbers game.

Nonsense! In a couple of hundred hours you'll be in Torment 7 cursing spiders and trying to get that loot!
Putting comparison aside, If you can sink a 100+ hrs into any game, maybe that game is not that bad? Idk just a crazy thought.

So far it really, really, REALLY can be a worthy successor to Baldurs Gate 2.
