Nah, I've just never played a game that actually ruined itself overtime the way D3 did. Over 1000 hours from late vanilla to season 8? I gave it a chance. It's easily Top 10 biggest let downs in gaming history considering how well received both it's predecessors were.

Anyway, this proves to me that you simply haven't played enough of the game to appreciate the plot. Which is sad, as there is a lot to appreciate, but hey, it's not like you have to play it. You're missing out though. |

Pillars of Eternity 2.
I've only played this for like 4 hours so far, can't really say how good the plot will be (though so far, it ranges from ok to awesome).. but it's everything I wanted from an isometric epic rpg with an active pause.. I've a feeling that finally, after so many years, we really have a proper successor to Baldurs Gate 2. The game picks up where the previous part ends, but instead of a happy ever after, **** gets destroyed and you die, only to be brought back, level 1, with a new mission from the gods. I won't spoil anything, but the biggest change is the fact, that you no longer have a fortress to rule - you have a ship to captain. This includes recruiting, training and feeding the crew, repairing and upgrading your ship and .. naval combat. Unfortunately I lost my Pillars 1 save, but there's an amazing in game option to create a "state of the world" file by answering questions (a lot, like 80 or so) about your decisions in the previous game. A lot of those things have a big impact on the plot of the sequel, or so I'm told. So far I only saw it several times. Generally, so far I'm hypnotized and in love with this. |
