If you've tried to get into the story, didn't succeed and didn't experience it then you don't have any grounds to fully critique it.

If fantasy that's 'mature and gritty' is apparently 'embarrassed' to be fantasy then GoT, LoTR, First Law trilogy, Beyond Redemption, The Axe and the Throne etc are all embarrassed to be fantasy?
No, fantasy doesn't have to be suitable for kids and throughout the majority, it isn't.

Even Discworld, a series which is about as lighthearted as you can get isn't for kids.

Also, the fact Sapkowski isn't as well known as, say GRRM doesn't mean he's a 'hack' author.

It's not my fault you can't recognize bad writing.

Good one...

Given what I've already seen of the game's story I am extremely doubtful that the guy went from hack to genius partway through for no apparent reason. It's a fair assumption that if writing is bad at the beginning it's going to stay bad.

What if you had to watch it over and over again for 20+ hours.

If the best defense you can mount is to try and get me to admit it might be better than watching Jack and Jill on repeat, I might have won by default.

Sounds like your movie taste tbf.

It sounds like you're talking out of your ass because you haven't watched any of them, but I've played a ton of story heavy games on both PC, Playstation and Xbox. I just don't anymore.

.

Yeah, that was a deadly serious point your honour.

I've seen every film you have and I've written a detailed analysis.

Cool, I was running out of stuff to read.

Because I got fed up with bad writing and because I think most games with significant amounts of cut-scenes and/or dialogue would be better without.

I honestly can't mention a game that isn't a point-and-click adventure where I thought the story was good. Some games have moments that work, but overall, it's just trash. I shouldn't have to say this, but I just want to make clear that it's just my personal take. I find games to generally have horribly tepid, poorly written narratives and the focus games commonly place on story these days bothers me big time.

I don't play games much anymore, but when I do, it's almost always 100% gameplay oriented stuff like fighting games, arcade shooters and stealth games like the old Tenchu series.

The focus on open worlds, storytelling, online aspects and RPG mechanics really kinda spoiled the party for me and I kinda lost interest in keeping up with new games.

I really can't understate just how terrible I think most serious attempts at storytelling in games are to me.

It's Jack and Jill tho. That's like 10 times worse than Little Nicky. I haven't played The Witcher but i doubt it's Jack and Jill bad.

I used to play Tenchu 2 a lot back in the day. It's in more recent years that I've caught up with the rest of the series. I think all of the Tenchu games on PS1, PS2 and even Tenchu Z on Xbox 360 are decent-to-good, depending on the title.

I haven't even seen Jack and Jill tbh. I stopped watching Sandler's movies all the way back around Mr. Deeds, approximately.
