The honest answer is neither. I'd rather just stare in to a wall if those are my choices.

But which one tho.

It's fantasy that's embarrassed to be fantasy so it tries to make it "mature" and "gritty" but it's written by some guy who's still a hack fantasy author so it falls flat. And Geralt is such a terrible character. From what I saw he has no interesting personality traits beyond being wry and gruff, and his design looks like the product of a 14-year-old fanfiction writer.

If you've tried to get into the story, didn't succeed and didn't experience it then you don't have any grounds to fully critique it.
If fantasy that's 'mature and gritty' is apparently 'embarrassed' to be fantasy then GoT, LoTR, First Law trilogy, Beyond Redemption, The Axe and the Throne etc are all embarrassed to be fantasy?
No, fantasy doesn't have to be suitable for kids and throughout the majority, it isn't.
Even Discworld, a series which is about as lighthearted as you can get isn't for kids.
Also, the fact Sapkowski isn't as well known as, say GRRM doesn't mean he's a 'hack' author.
